+++ Solid tournament book. +++
If you play cash games read Super System by Doyle Brunson.If you play mostly tournaments read this book after you read Super System. Super System will give you solid fundamentals on what cards to play and position. But honestly when Doyle, Johnny Chan, Amarillo Slim won their championship the fields were probably no more than 100. Nowadays you have to respect the younger generations' game and Erick Lindgren is 1 of the top 3 players below age 30.He doesn't talk too much about what cards to play, but instead how to play different types of hands in the face of raises. He also goes into great detail with real tournament (WPT) examples of how to confuse and neutralize your opponent's read on you. Which nowadays is more important than knowing what cards to play since everyone with a pocket pair calls.

Nice Effort by Lindgren
Erick Lindgren gives the basics of his style of play in getting to the final tables of major tournaments. The assumption by the author is that the readers know Texas Hold'em well already and are attempting NL tournaments or trying to improve their NL tournament play.I found the book to be a nice read. It begins with strategies to win super sattelites to make it to a huge event. He then goes into strategies for the play throughout the tournaments, including making the money and heads up play. Lindgren even discusses what to do after you win, including paying your taxes. Matros adds some helpful poker math and bluffing sections.Overall, I found the book to be a fun read with little pages wasted. The book is short, but Lindgren gets right to the point. Some things he mentioned I had not heard before and in some cases, he advocates doing the opposite of what I had always known to be traditional wisdom. If you already have solid knowledge of NL Texas hold'em, this book will give you some information that will probably make you think of tournaments in a new way. His aggressive style makes a lot more sense after I read his thought processes and how he thinks.I wish he would have gone into more details in some areas and the book was quite short. Had he given a few more examples and given a little more detail, I would have really loved the book. As it is, I would say it is a good book to have in your poker collection, but not a must-have book.

Tired of cashing in events but not winning.
This book is named appropriately. I played TJ Cloutier tight for a long time. I made the money a lot but I was always short stacked once I made the money. I still play tight-aggressive in the early levels of tournaments but this book really changes my image of the middle levels and bubble play. A week after I bought this book I won two events with over 2000 entrants each (only $20 entries and I made over $15,000). I credit this book. If you a beginning player, this book is not for you. But if you are a solid tournament player looking to improve your game, this book is a good place to start.
