Must-read is putting it mildly.
The Angel Creek Girls by award winning author Leslie Wolfe is another suspenseful crime thriller in the Detective Kay Sharp book series. I’ve read this author several times before and she doesn’t disappoint. This is another superbly written and richly descriptive novel with brilliantly drawn characters and settings. The threads of storytelling are so expertly woven in this crime thriller that it guarantees the attention of the reader. The structure of the narrative is dark but its beats are deliberate, making for a reading experience that's hypnotic from the beginning and only deepens on subsequent chapters. The plot is intricately carved, as the synopsis suggests: ‘In a sleepy mountain town, widow Cheryl Coleman stares anxiously out of her kitchen window while a storm rages outside. When the knock comes, she glances back at her daughters before opening the door with trembling hands… Detective Kay Sharp vows to get to the bottom of a heartbreaking murder that has rocked Mount Chester. A single mother has been brutally killed in front of her three daughters. The youngest, three-year-old Erin, is lying inches from the body, her pigtails loose, her face tear-stained. Eight-year-old Heather is discovered hiding under her bed. Sixteen-year-old Julie is nowhere to be found… The first twenty-four hours are critical in child abductions, and the girls are the key to saving their missing sister. But Heather is in shock, unable to communicate, and all tiny Erin can say is “A monster came”. When Kay finds three suitcases lined up in the hallway, it’s clear that the family were about to run away. But why? And who were they trying to escape?... Thanks to her own past, Kay knows all about traumatic childhoods shrouded in tragedy, and she works around the clock to get justice for the orphaned girls. Turning the town upside down, she uncovers the shocking truth about their peaceful community: it’s home to a serial killer who preys on helpless girls. Faced with the most twisted case of her career, can she catch the monster before another innocent life is lost?’Combining a maze-like plot with tense drama to create an unmissable thriller, The Angel Creek Girls is a must-read to put it mildly. It’s an absolute page turner from beginning to end. In addition, the characters are drawn with great credibility and conviction and the novel maintains a taut, compelling hold from start to finish. Highly recommended reading and a well-deserved five stars from me.

A Page-Turner
A great addition to the series, Kay is on the hunt for a killer/kidnapper, but there's more to the crime than meets the eye. A fast-paced novel with interesting characters made for good reading. I did laugh out loud though with her inclusion of a hurricane hitting the coast of Northern California. You'd have to go down to the coast of Central Mexico to find water warm enough to sustain hurricanes and it's in a belt of easterly winds so any storms formed would curve far, far away from the coast. NOT going to happen. Later in the book that's changed to a tropical cyclone - more accurate but also very unlikely. As to the statement that Northern CA Coast gets 10 days of rain per year? Try 100+ on the coast, and 80+ in Redding. Still trying to figure out where the fictional Mt. Chester is. 200 miles by interstate from Redding according to the book would put it North to a state that's never mentioned or down in the flatland of California, NOT a place where 10's of thousands flock to ski yearly. I really thought the author was from another country when I read the book. A great story but suspend all belief in meteorology or geography at the door.

the angel creek girls
This book did not disappoint, Detective K Sharp , this woman when she gets on to some thing she does not let go. Because of her being a profiler, she really has an in. I was on the edge of my seat from the first page right to the very last crying. My eyes out this book was excellent. If I could give it 10 stars, I would thank you Leslie Wolfe for this series. I absolutely love it. Even though I was terrified through most of it.

Danger and Evil Lurk Where You Least Expect It
"The Angel Creek Girls," is Book 3 in Leslie Wolfe's Detective Kay Sharp Series. After reading the first book, I am devouring the next books whenever time allows. Each could be a standalone, but I recommend reading them in order, especially since a huge secret about Kay Sharp is revealed in Book 1, but is not explicitly mentioned again in Book 2 or 3.In this book, a mother is desperate to leave Mount Chester along with her three daughters, but before she can make her escape, she is killed and her 17-year-old daughter is kidnapped, leaving two terrified preschool age girls behind.Detectives Kay and Elliot start investigating, but Elliot is soon assigned to a dead John Doe case that is seemingly unrelated, until a DNA sample links them. The action is fast and scary. Kay gleans little information from the two young daughters, even after hypnotizing one of them and analyzing the drawings of another. Two relatives are demanding to take custody of the girls, but Kay doesn't trust them and manages to circumvent a court order.Elliot and Kay don't spend much time together in this book, but their attraction is still there. An enjoyable part of Book 3 was that good things were happening at last for Kay's brother Jacob. Solving this mystery requires deciphering a hard-to-believe local legend and dealing with the usual psychopaths and their demented missions. I have started Book 4 and look forward to reading more about Kay, Elliot, Jacob and his new girlfriend.
