We park our cars outside and we recently had two incidents - rat bit and damaged the fuel line in my 18yr old Getz and couple of weeks later, it bit off the wiring in my wife’s Jazz. It’s not a matter of money, but rather the availability of the damaged parts and of course, the downtime. First I tried to eliminate the rat, but when I couldn’t I moved to creating a deterrent. Tried naphthalene balls, tobacco and eventually settled for spraying the engine bay with 3M rodent repellent. This was effective, but one day I saw rat droppings on the engine of the Jazz and attempted bite marks on my Getz’s fuel line. This meant the rats were revisiting and I needed to keep spraying the engine bays regularly. This is not always feasible, so I started looking for more permanent solution. I researched for devices that could be installed in the car that would keep the rats away. That’s when I came across Carcat. Went through their website in detail, read customer reviews on Amazon and other sources. One thing I realised is that the company has really put a lot of thought into their product, including researching on vermin behaviour and how to improve the product to counter the vermin menace. I didn’t find any other product which gave such detailed explanation on the problem and how the product was going to help deal with it. Sure, it’s expensive, but think of the ROI. Changing the wiring harness in the Jazz costs 17k, and if the ECM is damaged, add another 25k to that. Now imagine you having to change this frequently. In the case of my Getz, it was grounded for 7 weeks because I couldn’t find the replacement part! I had to finally source it from outside the country! So that’s that. Also, the product has nifty features, like turning off when the engine is started and the standby mode (when you go on vacation). It’s easy to install, just follow the instructions provided (which is pretty detailed I must add); it took me all of 30mins to find the spot to fix it, drill holes and finish the wiring. Adding the pictures and videos of the install done on our Jazz; one of the videos is the device disengaging when the engine is started and another one of the light works inside the engine bay when the bonnet is closed. I installed the device three days back and so far it’s doing its job. You may ask why this detailed review - well, I’m sure there are folks out there with the same predicament I was in and need a no-BS review, so here it is. I’ve purchased a second device for my Getz, which I’ll be installing tomorrow. And no, this is not a paid promo; I wish it was, but it isn’t. Hope this helps. Update 2: It’s been more than a month since I installed the Carcat in both our cars and I’m happy to report that there have been no intrusions in the engine bay nor any untoward incidents with the car involving the vermin. No, it is not that they’ve migrated to Canada; I still see them scurrying about (big fat ones) - they just don’t mess with our cars. So, all in all a great product and a worthy investment.

Using the product since 1.5 year, but still the rat has cut the wires of my car and also enter sometimes (look for rat waste), i dont know whether the machine is not that much powerfull to make the ultrasonic sound waves effectively or the indian cars are designed such a way that the mice can enter from anywhere, even though machine is installed such that waves and light can be properly covered through engine in ecosport, though my car is parked under the slab -covered, i use spray also after the rat has bite. My neighbour also bought this but the rat has bitten the device cable itself Thanks

I have been using the product for more than 2 years now in my Jimny. It was one of the first product i had installed in my car. The product is effortless and does the job at ease. It has not only protected my car when parked in some of the most isolated places but also helped the vehicles nearby when parked around me. Seeing the efficiency, I had ordered the same for my father's car too and it just has been brilliant in his vehicle too. I defiantly recommend this one for the safety and to keep off the rats. Defiantly a saviour and the best purchase for my priced possession.

Very effective to keep out rodents. Had my fuel line chewed up and cut by rats so we had to install this. No signs of rats afterwards. Works well against most rodents. Make sure it's placed securely.

Just a poor product made to cheat on people. The sound can be heard by naked ears, it's not ultrasonic sound. Not going to solve your rat issues. Amazon denied return of this product too, so avoid getting into such situation. Don't buy.
