It's no secret that Lake makes some of the best winter cycling shoes out there, but now they've seriously upped their game. The Lake MXZ 303X winter cycling shoe takes it to a whole new level with Pittards WR100 leather, Thinsulate insulation, Thermosol insoles, and a whole lot more. And speaking of more, this version of the MXZ 303 is the wide edition for those needing some extra width in their cycling shoes. If you live somewhere where snow, miserable temperatures and nasty winds are the norm November-March, then you definitely need these shoes. Pittards water resistant 100 leather construction helps keep your feet dry and protected in the winter months Outlast liner helps protect your feet from inclement weather Airprene cuff is water repellent and keeps out the snow, spray, and cold air Toe box uses Thinsulate to keep your toes nice and warm in even the harshest winds Thermosol insole helps insulate your foot from the outsole to help keep warmth in while riding BOA closure makes for easy one handed adjustments Storm flap fastens with adjustable pinch clip for extra insulation and to ensure that the bad weather doesn't leak into your shoe 2-bolt cleat compatible Wide edition

If this is a WIDE I would hate to see a narrow.
This looks like a really great winter cycling boot. However, despite being labeled as a Wide sole, it’s really narrow - and no, Amazon did not send the wrong boot, “WIDE” is stamped right on the inside of the tongue.European sizing is usually problematic for me in any cycling shoe or boot because anything made by European or Japanese manufacturers are always so narrow in the sole. When I saw these labeled as Wide I was hopeful, but I’m sure I’ll end up sending them back. I had surgery on 3 joints in my foot a few months back and now have a lot of titanium hardware in there, and I need a boot that is wide by real-world US standards, not just “wide relative to a regular European shoe/boot size, which is extremely narrow compared to US mens shoes or boots.” Just to clarify, I can wear a regular width shoe or boot just fine; cycling footwear is always narrow, I ordered up in size here to hopefully get some extra width out of this boot, but the soles at the arch of the foot are just so narrow....In terms of quality of materials and workmanship this boot deserves 5 stars. But the manufacturer and Amazon needs to seriously re-evaluate American shoe/boot sizing if they wants to sell a wide cycling boot to American standards. So 2 stars for accuracy - although frankly when I ordered them I anticipated this exact scenario would probably happen. For a man who could fit into these comfortably these would be awesome winter cycling boots. That’s just not me any more post-fusion.

Really comfy at 6 degrees, just right amount of stiffness
I'm back from my first ride in these on my fat bike at 6 degrees above zero, and I am impressed. My feet were warm and dry throughout two hours on the saddle....well, a good 20 minutes were out of saddle and pushing the bike through really soft Colorado powder when I took a *shortcut* down an XC ski trail. Despite postholing up to my knees in places, my tootsies were comfy the whole way, even when I turned into a bitter, frigid headwind.I normally wear a 44 or 45 in Euro sizing. After I saw the comments here about ordering larger, I got the 45 wides, which are snug but just right with a thin wool sock. A thicker sock might make the boot too tight, although I expect that with time and wear the interior will form to my foot for a very nice fit. Fortunately, I have a narrow to medium-width foot, so the complaints here about being too narrow didn't really apply to me. I would guess that if you have a wide foot, this is probably not the boot for you.

Warm and comfortable, these boots are worth the $$
Looking for a warm, well-fitted, cycling boot? Look no further. The Lake MXZ303 is a great winter boot. The boots are warm, spacious (I have wider feet than average), and comfortable. When cycling from the north shore into Boston (15 miles) on a winter day (30F temp) recently, my feet stayed dry although my bib tights and boots were sprayed with road mud. These boots are well worth the cost, and are built to last for years if you take care of them.

and I am in love with them
4 or 5 rides so far with these things, and I am in love with them. Coldest ride was 27 F for 1 1/2 hours, with no problem. I'm a 46 wide by Lake's size charts, and ordered a 47 wide based on other product reviews. Fit is like a good glove, which is to say "snug."I'll be happy all winter with these :)

I'm glad I bought these
These boots fit a little narrow. I normally wear a 46R in both road and mt shoes. I ordered a 48W and I'm glad I did. I also had to trim the soles a little in order to get my SPD cleats to clip in. After waterproofing them with sno seal, I rode with them in snow and 33°F weather and my feet were warm and dry throughout a 15 mi. ride.

Winter is almost done in upstate ny. Ive wore these boots every day on my three hour commute. boots worked great. at 10 deg and colder you do need two pairs of socks. other then that. Ill never switch from Lake boots for the winer rides.Note I normally wear a 10.5 I ordered a 13 u.s. size glade I did. not as wide as you would think. even when ordering wide.

Not wide as advertised.
These aren't even close to being wide shoes. They say "wide" on the shoe and on the box but they just aren't. The footbed is the same width as a normal shoe.

Great boots! Probably the best winter biking boots I've owned. Very comfy, warm down into single-digits (even colder for many), and fit great!
