He loves experimenting with the sounds, it’s portable so he can play it anywhere, and it’s surprisingly easy to pick up and start making music. The design is adorable and eye-catching, and it encourages creativity while giving hours of entertainment. Definitely a unique gift that stands out!

I bought this Otamatone as a Christmas gift for my kid, who has wanted one for years. I resisted for a long time because… well… the sound. If you know, you know. It’s not music so much as a collection of enthusiastic electronic squeaks. Eventually I gave up. The kid had done the research, watched all the YouTube tutorials, and was genuinely excited to learn how to play it. That kind of motivation is dangerous to ignore, so the Otamatone entered our home. Here’s the honest truth: It’s actually pretty cool. It’s creative. It encourages musical experimentation. It looks like a smiling musical creature from another planet. It is also… incredibly annoying. There is no quiet mode. There is no “soft learning phase.” There is only squeak, honk, alien dolphin noises, and the occasional recognizable melody if you squint with your ears. My emotions cycle between “Wow, this is fun and creative” and “I will move to another room now.” So yes, I love it. And yes, I fear it. If you’re buying this for a kid who really wants to learn and has the patience to practice, it’s a great gift. Just know you’re also buying yourself a front-row seat to the world’s cutest sonic chaos.

Bought this to show my kids a physical representation of how music works. High notes up high, low notes down low, and so on. Hearing different pitches. It did a great job of that and was 100% mission accomplished. Unfortunately, it's not particularly well made and so broke fairly quickly. It also has a pretty rough speaker in it that doesn't sound very good. It's a clever toy, fun to play with, and great for kids to learn - but you get what you pay for. This isn't a well made instrument, it's an inexpensive toy. Just be aware of that.

Super silly toy my kid has so much fun playing with it! It has 3 different volumes and 3 different sounds.

My son who is about ten really enjoys this otamatone. He had been asking for one for awhile. I settled on this one and he enjoys playing it. It's a neat little instrument. It's easy for him to toss in a backpack and take places as well. He has shown it to friends and it's been a lot of fun.

I bought this Otamatone for my young nephew as a Christmas gift. As indicated in the listing, batteries were not included, but thankfully, the cardback packaging didn't have any glue or staples, so I was able to pop a trio of batteries into the Otamatone and re-pack it before wrapping. Nephew has been enjoying it, and so have his parents - the sounds it makes aren't grating on the ears like other musical toys can be, so it has been a top pick as a take-along toy on car rides.

Mijn zoon is er blij mee, het geluid is niet al te hard maar opzich prima. De toetsen zijn niet lichtgevoelig dus er moet wel wat druk op uit worden geoefend wat ik wel wat minder vind. De prijs vind ik wel aan de dure kant.
