I am considering this tool... would this cut gemstone material? I am looking to shape rough before I begin to facet.

I have not used it to cut gemstones but I have successfully drilled 3/8" glass with a diamond point bit. Hope this helps , Merry Christmas.

I found it depends a lot on what you mount the hanger on ... if mounted to side of metal cabinet sound can be amplified and if mounted to solid wood sound is reduced etc. Also found that if you put a bit of rubber hose between the metal hanger and metal bracket on the motor unit you can reduce a bit more. Overall, not all that loud for workshop environment.

Where is this unit made?

Can you still cut metal with it lik a normal dremel?
