I used just the rasp one day at the end of my shower. I was SO impressed with how well it worked I had to do an at home pedicure a few days later to really put the set to the test. This set passed with flying colors. This set did a better job than anything else I have ever used, INCLUDING paying for a pedicure. I wear shoes as little as possible so the callouses on the bottoms of my feet are thick and tough . I can walk across the street barefoot with no problem. I live in Arizona and the road gets HOT. I can still walk across the street when the temp is in the 90s. The callouses are so tough that razor removers didn't work very well because the skin didn't bend enough for the razor to get in. To keep them under control I have to get a pedicure every 4 weeks, and I still have to pay extra for the callouses to be removed almost every time. There is so much dead skin that it's hard to keep my feet clean. I was only looking for a rasp and figured I would just throw the file away. BOY WAS I WRONG! I used the rasp on my whole foot (ENTIRE foot print, side of feet and heels, tops of toes and sides of toe nails) until nothing was coming off anymore. Comparatively the rasp made quick work of my callouses. I used the bumpy side of the file then the flat side of the file over the same places, also until nothing more was coming off. I can't remember the last time my feet were this soft! Even after expensive pedicures and paraffin wax. And it is so easy to get them squeaky clean! The biggest problem I've had with files and rasps is that the slots are always too small to successfully remove all the dead skin, even when used with a gel callous remover. The slots are just too small do the job. This rasp has GREAT SIZE slots! They are big enough to actually REMOVE all the dead skin, without cutting the healthy skin AT ALL. NO WHERE did the skin on my feet get so thin that it hurt later. I really wish I had taken before and after pics, but I honestly didn't expect these would work so well. These are so quick and easy to use that my feet will never get that bad again. :) I expect to be able to use them quickly at the end of my shower to maintain these results. P.S. I'm sorry if my comment is a little graphic. When I look for a rasp I always read the reviews to see how bad peoples feet actually were. Reviews don't mean anything when we are fighting different battles. I gave graphic details on how bad my callouses are for the other people out there who have ridiculously thick and tough callouses on their feet. I didn't get this product on any discount or from any deal. I bought this cause I needed one and I got nothing out of it except amazing feet!

I prefer this rasp (the grater-looking implement) with the bigger than holes than many brands which have smaller holes. Plus, it feels sturdy and like good quality. The double-sided file is nice as well. The file handle has a matte silicone feel to is, which I like. It's great for polishing up after using the rasp. I'm sure I will be using these for years. My mom wants to pinch them from me, but I'm going to buy her her own set. If you need to know how to use a set like this, let me tell you: 1. Wash your feet and soak your feet in warm water for 10 minutes. (This is a great time to add epsom salts or good smelling essential oils to your foot soak! Or, you can buy a foot soak! I'm not that fancy and just use good ol' epsom salts.) 2. Dry your feet on a towel, and get ready to rasp. 3. Sit and put your feet over the garbage can (or a towel or something you can wash/throw away) because skin will fall. 4. Give your feet a quick feel. Feel on your heals where the driest and thickest areas are. 5. Use the rasp (looks like a grater) to gently file away the driest and thickest areas. Use your hands to check your work. Don't hurt yourself and don't go crazy! You can rasp so much that you irritate (or even nick) yourself. 6. Use the bumpy side of the file to quickly file down and smooth out everything. 7. Use the flat side of the file to smooth over everything one last time. 8. Put lotion on your feet. (You can use any lotion, special feet lotion, smelly lotion. I use a Kroger knock-off of Gold Bond.) Enjoy your soft feet! You can do this weekly. I do it about once a month in the summer and even less in the winter.

This was a great purchase for me. I have terrible feet - hyperhydrosis, peeling, chronic athletes foot, callouses. I won't go to a salon because I'm too embarrassed and the staff would be horrified. I've been working with a podiatrist so I have topical stuff she gave me. I've been using the medicine for a few weeks with no real impressive results. 2 weeks ago I got these rasps and have been using them every few days. (I was using the cheese grater one with the same pressure I would a pumice stone & drew blood first day so you have to pay attention - not so much pressure.) To date my callouses are almost gone and my feet are looking much better. My feet are a part time job for me. They will never be perfect but now that I've got the hard layers of old skin off the medicines are working better. I use a detox foot mask and my feet look baby pink after I rinse it off. This doesn't last but they haven't looked this good in years. I like these rasps a lot because of the large surface space and the good hold you can get with the long handle - not wimpy like the little 4 sided pedi brushes I've used in the past. I spray these with disinfectant when I'm done and dry them with a towel. They will rust if you don't dry them.

HUBBY HAS EXTREME SKIN ON BOTH HANDS AND FEET. HE WORKS HARD AND IT SHOWS. THESE HAVE HELD UP AND DO A GOOD JOB OF FILING DOWN AND SOFTENING THE ROUGH SKIN. I WAS CONCERNED ABOUT THE HANDLES BREAKING OFF BECAUSE IT DOESN'T LOOK LIKE THEY ARE OF THE BEST QUALITY BUT SO FAR, SO GOOD. THEY HAVE MAINTAINED THEIR PURPOSE AND HAVEN'T CRACKED OR SNAPPED, WHILE IN USE. WE ARE SATISFIED WITH THE PRODUCT, THUS FAR. THEY ARE AS DESCRIBED. 2 PIECES. THE FIRST IS LIKE A CHEESE GRATOR, IT LITERALLY GRATES OFF THE THICKEST AND ROUGHEST SKIN AND THE OTHER ONE IS A FILER TO EVEN OUT AND SAND DOWN THE LESS ROUGHER SKIN. IT HAS 2 SIDES AND EACH ONE HAS A DIFFERENT GRADE ON IT. ONE IS SMOOTHER THAN THE 2ND AND YOU CAN CAREFULLY TEST THEM OUT BUT BE CAREFUL, AS EACH OF THESE ARE EXTREMELY SHARP AND WILL CUT YOU, IF YOU GRAZE YOUR FINGERS ALONG THEM TOO QUICKLY. EASY TO HANDLE GRIPS ON BOTH PIECES AND THEY STAY PUT IN YOUR GRASP. HUBBY HAS BIGGER HANDS THAN I DO, AND HE'S HAPPY OVERALL WITH THESE ALSO.
