Korky 428BP Flush Valve Seal For American Standard Champion Toilet Repairs, Replaces Part 738651-0070A - Made in USA

My original Champion toilet was always filling with water b/c the flush valve seal was flimsy and would flip back on itself and not set. A quick search on the web indicated that this is a common problem in the first-generation design (something to do with water slowly eating away at the seal material) so I purchased this otherwise hard-to-find (not at Home Depot or Lowes) item. It was easy to replace the original with this one. It works great. No more leaks, no more water wastage.However, afterwards I called American Standard and they sent me out a replacement flush valve ASSEMBLY (not just the seal). They apparently changed the design dramatically because of this problem. But I've not changed over myself b/c in order to change the assembly, you have to drain the enire tank and remove it from the bowl. It's too much work; as long as this valve seal keeps working OK, I'll keep using it.

This didn't fit well and I caught it leaking occasionally like the original one within a few weeks! The original at least lasted about 7 years! If you have the american standard champion with the flush tower, your better off to replace it with a whole new assembly. The replacement version, not another of the same thing. - American Standard 3174.002-0070A Champion 4 Replacement Flush Valve, there are video's on youtube to show you how. it's easy.

Such a simple piece, but I couldn't find this where I live.. someone even said it was extinct. With the help of Ferguson's in Jackson, CA I was able to match up the numbers on Amazon. Fantastic. No more shutting off the water to my toilet every night, because of frequent filling due to leaking. Thanks.

Didn't work for my toilet. To small od, needs to be much wider.

This seal was quick and easy to install taking less than a minute. Cure the problem of the toliet refilling the tank every few hours.

I have two Champion toilets. In one of them, the original seal was damaged by a cleaning product and I bought this as a replacement. It fits well and is easy to install, and does stop the leaking. BUT:The original seal lasted for about 9 months before it was damaged. In our other toilet, the original seal has lasted about two years. This replacement seal, however, needs replacing about every 3 months - Chlorazone or not, the gasket is thinner than the original and stretches much more quickly. I would advise either stocking up on this product, since you'll need to, or finding the orignal part, even if it's more expensive.

It worked perfectly but lasted only one year.before it completely deteriorated and leaking commenced in full.I thought it might be an outlier but the second one also lasted one year.Use a different manufacturer.
