Picked up one of these 8 port KVM switches to replace a 4 port system we’ve had some issues with for a while. Redoing our main service room for our small computer sales/repair business. Servicing local customers for most computer repairs. Virus cleanups, updates/upgrades etc. The 4 port system we had in place was old, and very pricey when we bought it new. Close to $700 with cables and all. (Probably 15 years ago now anyway)It was time to replace and upgrade to a larger unit as we have been getting in a lot more systems at one time lately, and after checking out the options went with this model. Best price for an 8 port vga with several USB connections for mouse/keyboard/external dvd/rw etc, and good reviews to boot. Shipping was fast. Product was solid and felt/looked well built. Easy install. (Has tabs for rack mount if you need that) I mounted mine right to my work bench with a long power strip and gigabit Ethernet switch. Ran cables, along with cat5 and standard ATX power cords to each “station” on my bench, and labeled/zip tied all the cables together.I must say, it works flawlessly. Looks sleek and modern. (Not like some other “cheap” switches. Going to buy another, maybe two, when we redo our other service rooms. Should be much more efficient and capable with more capacity, and no issues with old outdated equipment.We did have a concern with a couple of the cables initially, contacted the company, and they not only made it right, but they also handled my concerns promptly and without hesitation. Ended up with 8 new extra cables in the end, and not the shorter ones that Come with the unit, but the premium longer cables they sell separately. Extremely satisfied. And will absolutely buy from them again. The field I’m in, these folks have plenty of products I’ll use again and again. After this experience I’ll be sure to try them out for all our needs that they sell.

Main draw for me was that it had three shared USB ports. I've connected a steel series apex keyboard and a rival mouse and they switch seamlessly between different computers (Macs and PCs). I have different profiles on each, so the keyboard changes colour as another visual cue when switching between systems. I like the remote switch and the price!

This is a great product. The only reason I didn’t give it a 5 is because the remote button gets loose at the connection point if moved around. But the actual item works wonderful

The RIJER 8 Port KVM Switch has worked like it should with no issues. Vey easy to setup and arrives with all attachments needed. Clarity is clear on my screen with good resolution.Pros:8 port KVM switch with all cables, mounts, power cord, & switch for the price is well worth the purchase price. Seems well made, but only had it a few days and has been working as it should.Cons:Two issue I have seen so far are the KVM To server cables (8) are too short and need to be at least 8-10Ft long. I have all my equipment in one cabinet, even so the cables are stretched. (Will have to purchase longer cables). The second problem I see is the desk KVM switch cable to change monitors is also very short, even with desk right next to the server. For me it is at least 3-4ft to short.

Update: Absolutely DO NOT purchase this product!! The vendor is impossible to locate and completely unresponsive once you find a way to contact them. Amazon is useless to assist. I have tried to contact both and recieved no help. The product began to fail slowly after about 2 months. By time I was able to determine that the issue was with the KVM and not my monitor or PC, I was past the 3 month return window (which is fine, I only wanted a functioning product). However, by then COVID was in full force and I was able to get any assistance. It is now months later and I still cannot get anyone to help me or even respond to my requests. The problem increasingly grew worse to the point that the monitor will display for about 10 seconds, then blank for about 5 seconds and repeat continuously. Furthermore, eventually the monitor begins to overheat and eventually shuts itself down. So this is a fire hazard and safety issue. I have disconnected the product and went back to using my previous 4-port KVMs. Also, this company is registered on Amazon under multiple names so that bad reviews don't impact their company rating. So much deceit and dishonesty on Amazon!! I am very upset and frustrated by this experience!Original Post:I'm very disappoointed with this KVM. I bought this one to replace some other cheaper KVMs and I thought it would be better quality because it was more expensive. The one nice thing about this model is the extension cable that allows me to select a specific port while placing the KVM in a remote location that would not be inconvenient otherwise. However, the problem is the video output. If the workstation is not on the active port when it is booting up, the display will default to an incorrect resolution and size for the connected monitor. The only way to correct is to reboot the workstation or disconnect the video cable, wait a few seconds, and re-connect. This unit was supposed to have hardware to prevent this problem. Additionally, as the unit heats up, the video will increasingly blank out (the display will go black). It takes about 5 - 10 seconds from the time that the screen goes blank until it recovers. this can happen as often as every 20 - 30 seconds. The problem started after I had the unit for about 2 months. By time I determined that the problem was the KVM and not the PCs, I was outside the return window so I'm stuck with a useless KVM. To work around the problem, I must connect each PC directly to the monitor and use the KVM to switch the keyboard and mouse. I will not buy from this vendor ever again and I'm much more skeptical of the "Amazon Choice" logo. This unit is definitely not worth the money -- buy a cheap one or use a different manufacturer.
