Cost effective smoke alarm
I don't have any combustion sources in my home (gone full electric), so I didn't need a combo smoke/CO detector, and the Kidde provides the perfect combo of price and features needed in a hard-wired detector. It comes with a backup battery already installed as well. Simple install and does the job.

Easy to use but pretty sensitive
The product description made it easy for us to understand what type of alarm we were purchasing (I learned there's different types - ionization vs photoelectric)I liked the value of the multipack. They were easy to install and a trusted brand (I think it used to be called FIREX, not Kidde?)Only con is that the alarms are very sensitive - this is good for safety, but can be "annoying" since it picks up a lot of cooking smells and sets off. 1 alarm sets off all alarms which is good for safety again. Luckily, they are quick to turn off if you dissipate the air near them. Can't be mad at the product for doing its job!In summary, be careful cooking bacon or you may wake the whole house up early :)

Easy install, good value
Very easy install when replacing same brand, even over 20 years later. (Embarrassed to admit that I never knew you needed to replace smoke detectors every 10 years or less). I didn’t need to redo wiring or anything. I used a screwdriver, and it took me maybe 20-25 minutes to replace 6. Connected perfectly, beeped to indicate it received power, the end. The hardest part was breaking out the little plastic piece that aligned with where the screws needed to go. Some popped out relatively easily. Some I felt like I needed a hammer and chisel to get it off. The date of install sticker is a nice touch. For the price, it was a no brainer. I would have liked if these had the battery door on the outside, but I know they make that version for more money.

Good product.
Fast and easy installation. Replacing the old unit took less than 5 minutes. No need to redrill for screws. The base plate has knockouts that allow for four different positions for using existing screw holes. Just measure the distance between the screws and punch out the little keyholes in the base plate. This is a replacement for a hard wired unit. Nice thing about this one is that it has battery backup that the original one did not have.

Replaced hard-wired detector with ease
One of my rental properties had this hard-wired smoke/CO2 detector that beeped and announced "low battery" every minute, even though it was plugged in and I had replaced the battery a few times. Rather than figuring out how to possibly repair it, I found this $17 hard-wired smoke detector (no CO2 detector is needed at this property). Kiddie provides multiple connectors, and one fits perfectly into the hard-wired connector plug in the ceiling. I couldn't use the base on the previous detector for this new detector (even though it's the same brand). I knocked out the correct holes in the new base (which was a PITA and why I dropped a star on the rating). All in all, a quick install. It works and it set me back less than $20. I recommend it.

Great replacements so far.
House is turning 20 this year so replacing the alarms was definitely due. I hadn't really thought much about it until the existing ones starting to intermittently sound over a couple day period. Replaced all the batteries and tried keeping one unhooked to find the troublemaker but seemed like it didn't matter. I decided to go ahead and change them all (7) out. The wiring connector on these was different than the old ones but they come with the connector. Easy 3 wire connector to change out. All of the smoke alarms were on the same breaker so Shut that down, changed all the connector/harnesses and mounting brackets, then installed the the smoke detectors and good to go. Has been about 2 weeks so far and no more intermittent issues. I did have to buy this kit of 6 and an extra single one to do them all. All in all took me about 45min to replace them all. Suggest getting new wire nuts (3 per alarm) as they didn't come with them.
