Very useful for lab use. If you already have a PC power supply, this is much cheaper than buying a benchtop supply.

up-cycle old junk for new use
I had 2 old computer supplies headed to scrap, trash. Saw this and thought if the old pcx power supply can be a little bench supply it is a win win. Some supplies work fine without load, but I've found a minimal load is required to get a stable output on my higher current supply. The lower one ran fine.

Great addition to my testbench
Purchased this as an easy way to test items that require 12 volts, such as car radios and back-up cams. Obtained an old ATX PC power supply (see pics) and connected it. As long as the computer power supply has a 20 or 24-pin connector, it will provide sufficient power. Connect a wire to the +12 connector and another to the ground (GND) and test (see pics). The unit has a power switch on it to control power flow to whatever you test. I tested a signal flasher I am adding to my side view mirrors and the ground and +12v connector allowed me to verify it works before adding to the car. 2024 Update This has been so important to my testing needs. Works absolutely great. Now rigged up a more organized test bench with everything mounted.

Clean and Simple
What a clean a simple way to breakout an ATX pc power supply. I used for my virtual pinball build. Since it’s encased in plastic, it looks super clean and doesn’t look like an open circuit board. Highly recommend for this or similar type application.

Fantastic breakout board, I like that it's actually insulated some unlike lots of other models, the usb port works well, and the terminals accept large wires which I appreciate.
