A solid performing mid-range router
I bought this to replace an old Linksys WRT54G, and the huge increases in both wired and wireless speeds let me know that I should have upgraded a long time ago. I live in a standard 1500 sq. ft. ranch house and I connect three wired and four wireless devices, only one or two of which will be active at any one time, so my wireless needs aren't extremely demanding. I think the EA7300 is a good choice for average users like me. I get reliable full speed connections in the back bedroom about 50 ft. away through two walls and some other obstructions. The setup isn't too different from my old WRT54G, except that this model has a nice graphical interface called Linksys Smart Wi-fi. I found setup to be quite easy, but inexperienced users may find the setup of any wireless router to have a significant learning curve. Firmware updates are easily handled with the setup program. I have seen one or two instances where the Smart Wi-fi interface was fussy and didn't want to connect on the first try, but other than that I haven't seen any problems. The only other noteworthy issue I have had is that an old external HDD I had hoped to use as network accessible storage through the USB port failed to work reliably with the EA7300. After some discussion board investigations, I found that this was a common problem and not limited to Linksys routers, so I can't really deduct a star for that. So, as a word of warning, don't assume that the old drive you have laying around is automatically going to work with the EA7300 or any other router. I bought a 128 GB thumb drive to use with the EA7300 and I haven't had any problems with it. In more than two months of use, I have not experienced dropouts or other downtime, other than when the incompatible external HDD was connected, which did indeed cause significant flakiness.

Linksys AC1750...a superior router
Here is a bargain on a superior product. I used to have a Linksys router and it lasted for years but I needed an upgrade as the need for more speed and new standards. At the time I went with a router from a competitor. It burned out on my after 9 months. I came across these most recent Linksys models and read the descriptions and reviews and did some comparisons. I needed a router to cover a multi floor 2000 foot house plus a garage and some coverage outdoors. The AC1750 fit the bill. It was perfect for my needs. There are some higher end models that Linksys offers that are a bit faster and offer more coverage. Those were overkill for me. The first thing I noticed as the incredibly easy installation. All of my wifi devices connected immediately after I set up the login. The web based dashboard presents all manner of tweaks and adjustments whether you are a geeky technical brain or an average user. I'm getting at least 1.2 Gbps of speed. I have 10 wifi devices accessing my network and one ethernet connection. 11 devices...no delays, no drop outs. Streaming is flawless. I had streaming problems with my last router. There is a USB 3.0 port which I use for a 64 Gig flash drive for sharing various files. It shows up as another drive so there are no extra steps involved. I don't see where you could go wrong with this router. I hope anyone looking for a great router can get some use out of this review.

Surprisingly intuitive setup.
I replaced a TP-Link TL-WDR4300, that was 3yrs old and the WiFi started to go bad (acting like it wasn't getting an internet access, but wired was getting full speed 90-120Mbps based on speed tests - while WiFi would be anywhere from in the kbps range to full speed depending on it's mood.) Anyway, I looked around to see what was available. I normally only go for one that supported by DD-WRT (had it on ever router since my original WRT54G over 10yrs ago.) This one isn't supported on DD-WRT but there's been hints that they may in the future, plus there's others with the same processor that supports it, so maybe in the future. I'm by no means intimidated by configuring a routers and with very advanced configurations. But I was actually extremely surprised at how simple this one was to setup. A number of the things that as someone experienced in setting things up, would normally be scattered around multiple menus seemed to be done for you with some very basic configurations for what you want. It's so simple that I think even my parents or wife could even set it up if they had to. Sure there are a few things that you can do in DD-WRT that isn't supported, but nothing of consequence for me personally. I was able to quickly change over to my old SSID, set my Local IP subnet to what I want it, Setup my Static IPs, setup a DMZ and port forwarding for gaming, configure 'Media Prioritization' for my Smart TVs, Roku, TiVo, Set the channel I want (but moved it back to auto as it actually was selecting the least congested channel - something I've found to not work on some routers), DDNS configuration for a couple cameras, etc. I also like that it doesn't just use a common login information by default, and that it sets up WiFi encryption by default. And a really simply guest access that's quick to access. And you can actually set it up w/o plugging in an ethernet cable, actually the instructions only tell you how to do it wirelessly (though you could do it with ethernet jack plugged in - I tried it just to experiment.) Just pop in the URL in the guide, the router apparently knows this URL and and doesn't pull it from a DNS server, since when you change the local subnet address space used, it uses the new Gateway IP address. And toss in the Gateway's IP address and it pulls up the GUI as well (as expected.) If I were to recommend a good router to someone whose not technical, this is the one I'd go to.

Working well now (was:I purchased this router at a great price on Black Friday)
I purchased this router at a great price on Black Friday. It replaces a Linksys EA6900, an AC1900 router, which I had upgraded to run Tomato USB. I have a two-story home and have devices on both floors. Internet is Charter Spectrum at 60Mbps. My Lenovo and Dell laptops have 802.11ac wireless cards but no MU-MIMO support. In addition to the laptops I'm running a TiVo, Surface Pro 2, and Roku 3 over wireless as well as a couple of wired devices. I have not enabled guest access nor did I use Linksys Smart Wi-Fi for setup. I don't have a need for remote access and so have not installed the app. The EA7300 supports static DHCP assignments as well as MAC address filtering, both of which I use. The router runs cool, unlike the EA6900. Overall the EA7300 seems to have better 2.4GHz range than the EA6900. It has been stable although there's really no way to tell from the UI how long it has been up between reboots. The 5GHz range seems about the same. I have noticed that the wireless throughput on 5GHz is markedly slower than with the EA6900. Opening a large file on a laptop over the network from my wired desktop (gigabit) takes much longer than with the EA6900 with the throughput showing about 9Mbps even when the connection speed shows 200Mbps. Not sure what is going on. I have a USB stick with about 3,300 MP3s connected to the USB port. Using DLNA I am about to find and play these files on the Roku. However, the initial scan for the files by the Roku Media Player is much slower than the same flash drive in the EA6900 w/ TomatoUSB. The graphical interface is just OK, a bit sluggish sometimes. The amount of performance data and configurability available from 3rd party firmware like TomatoUSB (e.g. WAN usage details, throughput to each device, uptime of device, etc.) makes that interface superior to what Linksys offers. Unfortunately, 3rd party firmware is not available for Qualcomm-based routers. On problem I was having was that the router rebooted a lot when I had static DNS value set. I removed those and it stays up now. It does use Google DNS if you don't specify Update (1/11/17): My problems with downloading speed continue, and I'm deducting a star for that issue. My download speed is nominally 60Mbps after rebooting the router. After several hours (or overnight) the speed always drops to around 9MBps. The upload speed stays at 5Mbps. After rebooting the router, the download returns to 60Mbps. This holds for a couple of hours and then the problem reappears. I am on the latest firmware. Update (1/16/17): Amazon replaced the router (great customer service!) and the replacement exhibited the same speed issues. Linksys offered help. I started changing router options, including reverting to earlier firmware, none of which helped. I did notice that the Intel Ethernet adapter on my motherboard was throwing disconnect errors but it had been doing that since I updated to the latest Intel driver in September. That never seemed to bother the EA6900 but I decided to delete the driver and the Intel ProWin64 software and let Windows 10 reinstall just the driver. The driver that was installed was an older Microsoft driver and the problems seem to have disappeared! I'm getting full speed from my ISP as well as between computers.

High Speed Wifi Solution
I've had this router for a while now. The speed both wirelessly and through the ethernet ports is more than adequate for a medium use home network. The ethernet ports are Gigabit, so there's plenty of speed for multiple connections. I use mine to feed the modem into the house ethernet and have no issues with lag on any connected devices. It has a nice feature for when guests (family) visit for an extended period in that you can give them internet access without letting them into the whole network. The router has been in use continuously and is never down unless the service is down. It's built well and is a great value for the price.

Linksys is dedicated to delivering excellent technical support and customer service
Linksys is dedicated to delivering excellent technical support and customer service. With all due respect your kidding right? Less than a week ago I purchased Linksys AC1750 Dual-Band Smart Wireless Router with MU-MIMO, Works with Amazon Alexa (Max Stream EA7300). Although, I believe you have a really good router, considerably better than the one I was replacing it with, my experience with your tech support convinced me to return said router moreover I’m not interested in buying products from your company any longer. Having a superior product does not guarantee a client especially one like me, who admittedly does not know a whole lot about computers. I was under the impression that I could pull the old router out of line put yours in line follow the instructions and my network printers would all work unfortunately that did not happen. I acknowledge that I must have done something wrong. In an attempt to correct my mistake I called your technical support line, after confirming that I was under warranty, your technician listened to me explain that anything that I plugged into the 4 ports in the back of the router did not function, moreover the network didn’t see them. He then asked me to make sure that both ends of my Ethernet were properly seated into the ports. After confirming they were he then suggested that I swapped out the Ethernet between said router and printer. I explained to him that if I pulled the new router out of line and put the old router back in line all my printer’s work correctly clearly there was a communication breakdown between the new router and the printers. I explained to him using the private IP address of the modem with my old router I could see all of my printer’s, however, with the new router, all I could see was the new router’s IP address clearly when I configured the settings in the new router I did something wrong. He then informed me that it was a printer issue and I needed to contact the manufacturer of my printer. I asked him if he had the ability to login to my system remotely he said yes, however, there would be a charge to do so. I said you got to be kidding me we just spent almost 30 minutes and accomplished nothing, it is my sincere belief had he logged into my system he could have corrected my mistake within 5 minutes or less. I believe your tech support is going about this completely backward if you think you need to charge for tech support charge for the 30-minute nonsensical phone call, but give your clients the option of remote access for free. I purchased your product through Amazon I will be returning it with a copy of this survey you’ve asked me to take. PS obviously, in order to print out the return label I had to remove your router and replace it with the old one the old one printed the label with no issues. Whoa!
So far so good. Right up front, I've only had this for 3 or 4 days now. So, it's a bit soon to say with absolute certainty but, right out of the box, we've seen a vast improvement in wifi coverage in our rather large home. My old router was purchased back in 2006 so that should tell you something about where we were before buying this thing. Setup was child's play and the instructions were clear and concise (although could have been written a tad larger than 6 or 8 point font for my more *ahem* mature eyes). My son used to lose wifi downstairs in the back room, on his phone and while playing his PS4. He said today that the wifi hasn't dropped out at all since we got this newer, more technologically current router. It's great for our new 4K Ultra HD SmartTVs as well. But best of all, web pages now load in the blink of an eye on my laptop where, before, that little spinny thingy was taking it's dear sweet time with every link I clicked. Sometimes you just have to bust the buck and go from "It still works" to "It works WAY better than what we had!" Only 4 stars because, as I said earlier, we're still in the honeymoon stage. UPDATED: 2/28/2019 We have been very happy with this device. Updated my review to 5 stars!

Replaced the Verizon Fios G1100 with this...
I decided on this router to replace my Verizon Fios "Quantum Gateway" router, model G1100, which I was paying $12/month for. I am an engineer by trade but I am by no means a networking expert, in fact this is one technical field that I don't have a lot of experience or knowledge about. Despite that fact I was EASILY able to replace my Fios router with this one, literally within minutes. No problems to speak of. Once you disconnect the Fios router (there are instructions for doing this on the Fios website) this router will automatically connect to the service and activate within a couple of minutes. It is that simple. In addition, the Linksys website and app are both useful and very easy to use. The main reason why I decided to get this, aside from saving myself from the monthly payments, is because I was having connectivity issues in my home. I discovered that there were several reasons for this. But in terms of a direct comparison to the Fios unit, I can tell you for certain that this router is slightly better in terms of overall range. After I switched the Fios unit with this (in the exact same location) my televisions and other devices in my home were receiving a slightly stronger signal and also stayed connected in circumstances when they used to disconnect. I also ended up moving the router location in my home and added a Linksys ethernet switch to further improve the network in my home for streaming, but that really has nothing to do with this review. Overall I am happy with this purchase. This router has improved the overall stability and range of the wifi network in my home and has reduced my Verizon monthly payment amount, which means it will pay for itself in about a year. Any investment that pays for itself that quickly is probably worth it.
