Makes your Vaio go go again
If you are going to open up your laptop to clean it or freshen up the thermal compound, you might as well go ahead and replace the fan. Trust me, it will go out. Even if it HAS been working fine, I promise you, it will FAIL. And generally, the likelihood of it failing shortly after you seal it up after such maintenance is directly proportional to how difficult the fan is to access. Just replace the fan when you do new thermal paste and be done with it. If you have to remove the entire motherboard from the housing to make the swap, count on that fan failing a week or two after you've done other maintenance just to spite you. Laptops are wicked that way. Yes, I know the fan runs so well after you've just cleaned it up and dusted it. That's fine, put it in a box and give it an honorable burial in your backyard after you've replaced it with this $10 part.
