Incredible phone, a joy to use.
Very pleased with this phone. Very quick at loading apps and very responsive. Fingerprint reader I've found works perfectly. Has a headphone socket and SD card slot which many of the new phones that come out these days don't have. Having those was important to me. Already comes with 256GB . The 360 stereo surround sound from the actual phone speakers is unbelievably good when playing music or watching something on netflix, Disney + ect. Very respectable loudness from the phone speakers which was not so good on my old Sony, this one is much better. Battery life isn't to bad easily lasting a day. I'm still left with over 40% charge after a day of general use. The screen ratio is different to other big screen phones. Which makes the phone look tall and thinner. I actually prefer this, as it fits in to my pocket easier and is perfect for viewing films the way they're ment to be viewed. This phone is a joy to use. It feels premium quality. Very happy with this purchase 😁

Excellent
This is a step up from the Xperia 5 for me. It's tall & thin. Not too wide, perfect for my small hands. It's a flagship phone & deserves to be so. I compared it to the Samsung S21 ultra and loved this in pretty much all respects. It does come with bloatware, however only the icons are installed (like CoD, Facebook etc) so only take up a few MB's. If you want to use them it with then downloads the app otherwise you can disable the apps, which I did.Screen has lush deep colours, brilliant whites and a great refresh rate that you can increase to 120Hz for graphic intensive games, although this obviously comes at a cost to battery life. Having been a graphic artist, the Creator mode is interesting, rendering a faithful colour reproduction at 4K.And...then there's the camera. Wow. Impressed doesn't come close. It's fantastic. I have an older Sony mirrorless alpha series camera, for the majority of photography this outclasses it. I'm not throwing my camera away, I'm still using that for situations where I need specific lenses but this is brilliant photography that surpasses the "everday" photography. It may seem a little complex to some people who are more comfortable with a point-and-shoot, however even with the basic settings you can still get excellent results in quite a few different light situations.Battery life is pretty decent, no better or worse than the S21 ultra. It's fine for my everyday needs, if I'm going to do more intensive game or graphic work then I won't go too far from a charger or portable battery. So pleased that Sony have kept with the headphone jack. You cannot fully appreciate HiRes audio with even the best Bluetooth headphones. The fingerprint detection is pretty simple to set up & works fine. It's on the right side which is SO much better than having it on the screen. Basically it works well, is easy to use, and is conveniently located.I get that this phone isn't going to be for everyone, especially at this price. It doesn't have expandable storage but with 256GB stock it's not an issue. For me, it was a no-brainer compared to the Samsung which felt like a massive brick in my hand compared to this.My one issue isn't with the phone. I ordered the purple & I received the black. It really didn't matter so I kept the black, would have been funky to have the purple:)

This is not a phone with a good camera
This is not a phone with a good camera. It's the other way around. It's a camera with an in built phone😂 honestly I just love this product. Never disappoints when it comes to taking good pictures. Some if's here and there but for the price I managed to get it for I think it's a fair deal. And to be honest I'm not a professional phone reviewer. I hope the pics justify.

Screen damaged
After owning this phone for 36 days (my first Sony), I noticed in specific lighting conditions, that there are four parallel minor scratches on the screen surface. I have been so careful with this new expensive phone, that I don't believe I did anything to cause those scratches. Therefore, they must have been there from the start, and it was only due to the specific lighting conditions on the 36th day of owning it, that I noticed them. Now I can't not see them!I have contacted Sony, and they said I can send it for repair, but may be charged for it depending on whether the assessor determines the damage is not covered by the warranty. If it's not covered by the warranty, and I decide the quote is too expensive, then I have to pay to have the phone returned to me, plus a handling fee!To start with, I don't think after 36 days of owning a phone (that must have been damaged from the start), that having it repaired is acceptable. Secondly, how do they determine if the damage is covered by warranty or not? They said I could send some pictures in, but the scratches are so light, that I don't think they would even show up in a photo. So if Sony say the damage wasn't there from new, my question would be, after being so careful with the phone, how has it ended up with scratches on it after just a few weeks. I wonder if there is a problem with the Gorilla Victus glass on these phones, that they are easily lightly scratched after such a short period of ownership, even if you are really careful with it. What would it be like after a year, and being less careful with it. If the screen is this fragile, why don't Sony put a screen protector on it in the factory. I've always had screen protectors on my phones, but when I got the Sony, I thought it's got the latest Gorilla glass, why put a protector on such a high quality 4k screen, that's only going to reduce the quality.I have read other posts on the internet of people complaining that after owning the Sony Xperia 1 III for a few weeks, having been really careful with it, they've also noticed minor scratches on the screen under certain lighting conditions. So they could have had a damaged screen from new, and didn't notice it until under the specific lighting conditions, or the glass really is that fragile. If after reading this, you still decide to purchase this phone, I would recommend checking it on delivery under a strong overhead light source, to confirm it's not scratched. Then before even breathing on the screen, let alone touching it, put a screen protector on it!
