Procare 79-81145 Medical/Surgical Shoe, Women's, Medium

Bought this as a second surgical shoe to wear when out & about, so that my initial post-op surgical shoe (which I received in the hospital) stayed clean for in-home and in-bed use.This review is for a Women's size Medium.  This surgical shoe can be worn on either foot.I normally wear a 6.5-7 shoe.  I am also wearing heavy surgical dressings while using this shoe.The shoe's white, rubbery sole is 10" long, 3 3/8" at the widest part of the instep and 2 3/8" at the widest part of the heal.  The sole is 7/8" thick at the heel and tapers to about 5/8" towards the front.  The tread is wavy and of decent depth.  It is very sturdy and feels balanced.The upper material slightly cushioned and smooth.  Two strips of velcro (one is 14" long and the other is 13") go across the instep and adjust easily through two plastic guides.  I did round-off the sharp corners of the velcro as it was catching on my dressings.  No big deal.This shoe is very light, it weighs 9.6 oz.With my surgical dressings, my ankle is 10" around and the instep part of my foot is 12" around.  This shoe fits perfectly.I highly recommend purchasing ProCare Evenup Shoe Balancer on Amazon, as well.  I bought the size Small (Shoe Size: Men's 6 - 8 / Women's 5 - 8.5)Using the shoe balancer on my good foot with this surgical shoe on the other has made walking almost normal.  Better gait & pronation has prevented my hips & knees any achiness.  I did not know about this balancer when I had previous foot surgeries.  I so wish I'd had it back then!I also purchased a pair of bariatric socks to cover my dressings and help keep my toes warm.  These socks also fit OVER this surgical shoe, which is great, given that I am to wear the shoe 24/7.

I bought this after reading other comments about how this size runs a little small. Anyway, it was a little small but I wore it for over two weeks.HOWEVER, I went to a chiropractor and had some adjustments to my legs and hips and when I wore the boot again, it fits perfectly! So if your boot is not fitting right, you might have gotten your hip/leg out of alignment when you injured your foot! Check it out. Be well!

Too narrow. Ordered my shoe size. This product does not allow for a swollen or wrapped foot.If you order this, order a larger size than you would normally wear.

I wear a size 7 shoe and my toes were at the tip of this medium sized shoe. Plus it just doesnt feel very sturdy.

This got me through having a broken toe and not being able to wear normal shoes. It can be used on either foot. Held up well. I would recommend.

Would give a 5 star because the company has excellent customer service, but buyer be aware that this shoe runs a bit small. If you are on the edge of the next size up, go with the next size up. I wear a 7 1/2 women's shoe and the women's medium was just barely too short. The edge of my big toe hung off.

The Velcro straps are really really long. I don’t know why. I am a size 7 and got a medium. The sole is quite narrow so if I had to put more weight on the outside of my foot it would roll and cause a bit of pain. I only used this for short distance walks and driving. The sole is sturdy.
