Be sure you know what you're measuring
I found a beautiful Waterford crystal clock at a thrift store; with my senior citizens discount it cost only $2.25. But the clock insert didn't work, so I needed to find a replacement. This one was smaller than I expected, but I was lucky to have an extra gasket to put around it, and it fits into the cavity perfectly. I'd never done this before, so I obviously didn't measure properly. All's well that ends well, though, and I now have a beautiful little clock on my sewing table.
