Love the Journey!
I bought several and tried them all: Jabra Cruiser 2, Freeway and Journey and the Parrot Minikit Slim My car has specific size restrictions so the Jabra cruiser 2 and Freeway were too big. My seat hit the unit when it was titled forward for the kids to get in back. So my only 2 choices ended up being the Journey and the Slim due to size restrictions... the Cruiser 2 and the Freeway were nice units that did the job if you are interested in either of them. My recommendation is to buy the newer of the 2 (which I think is the Freeway). I was disappointed with the Cruiser 2's very old fashioned computer voice instead of the more modern simulated voice the other 3 units had. But the microphone and sound from the Jabra units was all great. I liked the size of the Parrot Slim and the microphone was pretty good. But the speaker is TERRIBLE!!!! The best I could do was keep the volume low and it still sounded like I was listening to a speaker from a McDonald's drive through.... I wanted to like it but it was unusable! Plus, you had to turn it on every time you get in the car, which drove me nuts... I simply can not say enough good things about the Journey. It's small, has an extended battery life, the buttons are VERY well laid out and responsive. Most importantly, the microphone is very good (the person on the other end of the phone hears me fine) and the speaker is very good for me to hear what they are saying. I can hear at high volumes clearly even with the windows open. Also, the unit has a 10 minute auto off, which is convenient. BUT, it doesn't shut off if the built in motion sensor detects motion in the car. So it's not shutting down every 10 minutes with me in the car. AND, it automatically turns on when I enter the car without me doing anything. I sit, it announces "POWER ON" and then "CONNECTED" without issue, every single time. What more can you ask for... It's hands free, thought free and does what it is supposed to. And the last little mega-bonus is that with an iPhone 4S (which I have), when you push the voice recognition button on the device, it activates SIRI so I can use my little electronic assistant hands free as well. If you are looking for a little, effective, simple hands free bluetooth system for your car, buy the Journey and never look at anything else! I like this thing so much I am going to buy 2 more so when this one eventually dies in a few years, I'll have some backups!!!!

Doesn't Do Everything It Should
I have this Jabra Journey paired to a Samsung Gravity Smart (T589) phone and have used it for nearly a week. The good: - The motion detection to turn it on has worked every single time without issue announcing that it is powering on and connected. - Extremely easy to pair with phone. - Other party can hear me loud and clear even when speaking in a very soft conversational voice from my car. - I can hear the other party very well although the sound quality isn't as nice as in our other car that has factory bluetooth where we can hear through the car's speakers. Still beats holding the phone to my ear or using a wired earbud. - Very small and clips on the visor easily. Doesn't distract and is tight enough where it won't fall off if I move the visor around. - Seems to hold a charge well. I've had it for a week and have played around with it A LOT without having to recharge it. - Inbound call ringing is plenty loud (although can't be heard over my stereo when playing at high volumes). Jabra flashes blue when there's a call which can easily be seen, but might not be noticeable except at night since it's not in my line of sight. - The button answer/end button is large and easy to use as are the volume buttons. - Volume can get plenty loud when conversing(well beyond what I would want or need). - Can answer by speaking "answer" or by pressing the button (I find it easier to just press the button instead of waiting for it to respond to the command). The not so good: - My biggest issue is that it won't announce the names of the callers from my phone book (my phone does have PABP). I've talked with Jabra tech support and they couldn't figure out why it won't work unless it's something with the Jabra itself. My phone even prompted me whether to allow phone book access to the Jabra and I tried it several times. We have two of the same model phone and both had the same problem. We did try entering the phone number as 11 digits in the phone book and tried adding nicknames, but to no avail. Jabra tech support advised to try pairing it with a friend's phone to see if it worked there. Sure, I'll get around to that someday. It still announces the phone number which is just okay. - It doesn't always shut off after 10 mins if I'm still within range of the device. My living space is close enough to my garage where I stay within range. Most of the time it will go to sleep and disconnect, but it won't about 10-20% of the time. That's easily remedied by turning off my bluetooth on my phone and turning it back on. Minor annoyance, but not a big deal. I found it happens most often when I receive a text or an email notification on my phone while still connected within the 10 mins, then it won't disconnect later. But it sometimes won't disconnect even without that. And getting a call while still connected to the Jabra out in the car is a pain to handle. By the way, it takes about 12-13 mins to disconnect for me instead of the stated 10 mins. - The Jabra's voice announcement that it is powering on and is connected is a bit loud and the volume can't be adjusted. It startled me once, but I suppose I'll get used to it. All in all, I like the device in general, but I'm giving it only 3 stars simply because of the inability to announce caller names as advertised even when Jabra confirmed that it should work with my phone. I may still have it replaced if it bothers me. The fact is, I usually decide whether to answer a call based on whether I want to talk at that time rather than who is calling. So I'd probably answer anyway even if I didn't recognize the number. 8/25 follow up: I'm very impressed by the battery life. I've had this device for over a month and have not yet had to charge it. Lastly, the sound quality while I was parked was good. But I have to turn up the sound to hear better while driving due to road noise and it takes away from the quality a bit. I can still hear well enough though. People on the other end of the call have said that it still sounds fine to them while I'm driving.

Reliable performer
I have had this speaker in the car for quite a while now and use it regularly. It is small and light allowing it to be mounted on the sun visor without affecting the visor's ability to stay in the up position. Sound quality is adequate for conversations and the volume can be set quite high. Music playback quality is atrocious and I'm not sure why Jabra even included this feature on this product. The microphone works well and picks up speech a normal conversational volume whether the visor is up or down. There is no need to strain or shout to be heard. The batteries last an incredibly long time and I have gone for about 2 months between charges regardless of temperature levels. Pairing the phone is very easy and reliable. The unit shuts off after awhile if not paired to a device; however, will turn back on and pair to the phone automatically when entering the car. A motion sensor lets the unit know when you enter the car and to shut down a few minutes the Bluetooth connection is severed. One thing that is really annoying is the range of the Bluetooth antenna on this thing. My phone stays connected for over half a block after I exit the car. If I park too close to the house and get a call I am yelling hello without realizing that the speaker in the car has maintained the connection to my phone. I don't think Jabra needs to have such a long range antenna for a unit that will be used within the confines of a car. Overall, I have been happy with this product.

Better than the Freeway and the Roadster
I recently purchased a new car that did not come with standard blue tooth technology. Since my old car came equipped with this feature, I felt lost without it. After searching the internet (Amazon), I purchased the Jabra Freeway, the Jabra Journey, and the Motorolla Roadster 2, because after reading the reviews I wasn't sure which would work best for me. I have an iPhone 4S, and I wanted something with voice activation, a motion senor, and an FM tuner. Out of all 3, I decided to keep the Jabra Journey and returned the other two. This is why; The Jabra Freeway was the most expensive and in my option the worst. The only thing that I like about it was the clarity of the speakers. It didn't recognize my voice, or my son's, the FM tuner worked, but barely. It played over the radio but with way too much static and interference. Had pretty much the same issues with the Motorolla Roadster, except that it did recognize my voice commands. The clarity was weak in comparison to the Jabra Freeway, and the FM tuner was just as bad. I decided to keep the Jabra Journey, even though it did not have the FM tuner, which is what I thought I wanted most of all. I came to realize that I would have static and interference with most of the FM tuner devices, so I gave up on that idea. The sound on the Jabra Journey was so clear and loud that I no longer think I care to have the FM tuner. The Journey also has a motion senor so it turns off and on upon entering and exiting the vehicle. The set up was easy, and it recognized all my voice commands. The Journey was less than half the cost of the Freeway and a little less than the Roadster, and by far the best of the three. So happy with my purchase that I am considering buying a second one for my son's car.

Great product that follows you anywhere.
Have Motorolla Driod Razor Max. Works great for connecting with excellent rang. Works to about 30-40 feet (without interferance). Bad part about that is you have to remember if you are in the house to turn off unit or turn off bluetooth. Excellent battary life. I leave on constantly and allow it to connect when I get into the car. It will go into standby mode by itself if no connectivity is detected and powers on to connect as soon as I open the door/sit in the car. I have gone 2.5 weeks with not recharging and will use in car 2 - 3 times a day for average of 15 min a call. Like the portability because I will use between cars with out having to do all the reconneting to other systems. Like the capability of it connecting to my phone to use hands free dialing. If I do have issues its due to android not recognizing my speach not the functionality of the phone as some have suggested. Excellent quallity and volume clarity. Have bought as gifts for others and they have like very much as well.

battery drained too quickly
I wanted to like it, I did. I got a new car with bluetooth built-in, so I wanted something for my wife's car. To make a long story short, someone who keeps their phone outside of BT range of their car when they are at home will probably have better luck than I did. PROS: + easy to pair phones + fast charging time + micro USB connector (nothing proprietary) + free shipping on amazon.com returns CONS: - immediately had to download/install new firmware from jabra to get it to work with iPhone 4S. Volume was maxxed out until doing so. - battery drained after less than 2 days of non-use (supposed to be 45 days). I suspect this is because the car is parked in an attached garage within bluetooth range. The phone on the kitchen table was still connected to the bluetooth, so it probably never disconnected. - to get around above item, I tried manually powering on/off when using. Powering on caused the iPhone to start wirelessly playing music though the jabra even though the iPhone was hardwired to the car. - you can't set up a "preferred" paired phone. (or any preferences) I paired both my wife's and my phone. When turning off BT on the active phone (to simulate one of us exiting the car), it took a minute or so for the other phone to become the main phone for outgoing calls. ________ we are not frequent cell phone users so battery life was a major issue. So, this unit went back and I'll keep looking for something that perhaps uses motion sensors to auto-power-off.

Close but no cigar
When I read about the Jabra Journey I thought it would be perfect for my needs. It does a pretty good job and works almost as advertised. The main problem I've experienced is the failure of the unit to hear my command to answer the phone. This can be somewhat frustrating as I'm yelling at this thing and loosing my call. The other issue is when my truck is parked on the curb and I'm eating just inside and I don't hear my pone ring or when I do the person on the other end can't hear me. The issue is that the Jabra has such a strong blue tooth signal my phone stays connected to my truck even though I'm inside a building with my phone. To conclude I would like to say I'm pretty satisfied and for the money I would purchase the unit again.

Still a great buy in 2025
Seller shipped very promptly, and the car speakerphone looks almost new. this is a must have for an older car allowing calls hands free. Battery life is good, if needed it can be charged over longer drives also. I do not let it in the car during freezing nights. At max volume I can hear very well the other person during a call and I'm audible to the other person also. All in all a very cheap way to make hands free calls in an old car.
