This site list melafix from two different venders, mars and pond care. big difference in priceing. are they the same?

I've used several different brand types of melafix and found that they work just the same.

Is it safe to use post-expiration? In other words does it turn toxic to fish or simply starts to lose the effectiveness?

I would think if this is not very much over date, like 6months or so, it would be fine. If it is still sealed, it will be like new or almost. If it is older, it probably, hate to say as this, but I would think it will be okay to use, and just be weaker or maybe not. If you are in doubt, I would buy a new one to be certain. In the past, they never put dates on anything, and now a days they do and the things were used and were okay. Best answers I can give you. Good luck with your issues.

I guess my butterfly goldfish has fin rot. How should I treat it? It is in a pond with other healthy fish.

If the other fish are healthy. Then you should remove it in to a isolation tank. Be sure to use the pond water when you fill it. There are instructional videos on YouTube that will show you how.

How is this different from regular strength? They both have 5% concentration in a 64 oz bottle.

My advice is to please ask a professional breeder for direction. Off the self purchases is "gambling" to me! Best wishes to you and the Fish :)
