Black Joe Lewis & the Honeybears

I usually buy these EP's cause they are inexpensive but often have a very accurate showing of what you can expected from the full album. Basically it's the all-star version because they want you to be so impressed you buy the album too. Well, i would never buy the full album cause i can't tell what kind of band they want to be. There are several different genre's on here: blues "Cousin Randy" or R&B/Soul "Gunpower". Neither do they do extremely well. I love a good horn section but sadly they can't give you much here that makes me feel it's worth buying another album.

Arrived quickly. Arrived in promised condition. Good music, by an artist and band who clearly love Old Motown as much as I do, yet has tremendous talent. These are not covers, but it definitely has the sound that reminds me of Old Motown of 60's/70's!

Originally saw these guys in the pages of Stereophile magazine and I picked this EP up as a result. It's a quality product, a heavier pressing than their real LP (Tell Em What Your Name Is). It's fun, funny, enjoyable music. A neat addition to your collection. Saw them live a little later and they are the real deal. Very enjoyable presing and music!

I've purchased some real clunkers over the last year and Black Joe Lewis & The Honey Bears is not one of them. This is a great, amusing and up-beat album. I heavily recommend it for anyone then enjoys old school R&B and soul but doesn't mind a lot of foul language/imagery. I would tag it Adult Alternative Soul music.

Their 2 studio albums are a throwback to James Brown and the funk and soul of the 70s. This Record Store Day release of some live tunes is a great listen. Sounds like they are in your living room.

I enjoy Black Joe Lewis and the Honybears music. This is a great EP with a couple of songs that aren't on their deput album.

Great debut album from this Texas band. The arrangement is tight and lively. And the band name might be the best in the history of music.

This is a fantastic album that desperately wanted after seeing Black Joe Lewis play live. Every song is solid on this little offering (it is a 10.5" record)
