Quality and cheap
The sun protection shade works perfect for my little tree transplants! Plus it was cheaper and bigger than I could find locally. Win win. Iโm new to landscaping, and as evidenced in the picture provided my yard is mostly sand. Where I live itโs dry and triple digit hot during the summer. So after learning I would need to protect newly transplanted tree saplings if I wanted to prevent their trunk from scorching, I found this shade cover. Itโs easy to setup, just staple to the fence on one side, and drape over the t-post impromptu fencing on the other. It also makes watering the plants easy, just point the hose over the top of the trees and the sun shade disperses the hose stream into smaller droplets so as to water it evenly.

Too much sun for my garden
This is a must have for my Florida garden, blocks out about 20% of the sun. After six months it still usable.

The 50% is a good product, but probably only shades at about 40%.
We are very pleased with the fact that although we had dragged the cloth against some chicken wire fencing that snagged it, by the time we got it installed you couldn't even tell where it had been snagged. It seems to be well built, and it is light enough to be easy to work with. The negative part is that there is no way this cloth actually shades 50%, except where the sun is shining at a fairly sharp angle to the surface of the cloth and only perpendicular to the direction that the flat filaments are running. Thankfully, we happened to install the cloth so that the filaments are running east/west since the top of the structure is flat. Otherwise the light reduction would have been stronger when the sun strength was weaker, which is not what we wanted. So pay attention to how you orient the cloth if it is important to have more even light reduction at all times of the day. In the photo you are looking north and you can see that the cloth lower down on the horizon is blocking the light more that the higher part. Looking east and west it is much more even. If you look at the 1st image in the Amazon advertisement in the closeup part of the photo that shows the flattened filaments that block the light it looks like the filaments are lying flat to the surface that the cloth is laying on, but in reality these are flat filaments that twist randomly so that the amount of light blocking varies from place to place since in some areas most of the filaments are turned with the narrow edge pointing towards the sun. The maximum blocking possible is about 50%, which is what they show in the photo, but the average blocking is probably about 35% or maybe 40% at the most, in my opinion. Thankfully, this isn't a problem for us since we are using this to shade a vegetable garden in the Arizona desert and some of the plants will be better off with the lower amount and we can add another layer of shade cloth for individual areas that need more shade at the lower level with hoops. Another good thing about this shade cloth is that the grommets are spaced evenly and consistently enough so that we were able to take two 20 x 30 shade cloths and link them together with carabiner clips to make a "seam" for a 40 x 30 foot cloth for our 35 x 35 foot structure, leaving 5 feet hanging down on the western end to block the afternoon sun on these 110 degree days. We ended up clipping the sides together and then rolling the whole 40 foot wide cloth up like it was a huge carpet, folding both ends over and over towards the middle, and then my husband was able to easily lift it up onto to top of our structure, open up and unroll, and then with each of us up on ladders on opposite sides and we didn't have any problems unrolling it over the whole structure. When we had tried to drag it over the structure in an open state it was snagging badly. We also bought the 70% shade cloth from this same company and the (different) design pattern of the 70% cloth works much better and seems to be at about 70%, So all in all we are very pleased, but be aware that this cloth probably doesn't give a 50% shading. If you want a 40% or 35% it is a great deal. If you want a higher amount I can really recommend the 70%,

Perfect size and great shade.
This is my second purchase of this shade cloth. Use it over my pool and it works great. The last one just didn't weather a wind storm very well. Hope this one works better.

Good quality but innacirate size
I ordered the 12x12 shade and it was 12ft but probably 20 feet the other direction and will not work for me.
