64121 Carbon-Infused Steel UltraEdge Dog Clipper Blade, Size-7FC, 1/8-Inch Cut Length

My Andis AGC2 clipper came with the #10 which I use for the face, feet and sanitary areas. I had purchased the #4FC which provides a clean, but still fluffy trim, but decided that I need the #7FC for the hot humid summer. I just trimmed my chocolate miniature poodle today with the #7FC and she looks much more comfortable in the NYC heat. I did feel that I had to go over the same areas more times than with the longer blade to make her look even given the skin tone shows. This shorter blade leaves a nice soft fuzz just slightly longer than her face area. Just be warned that with the #7FC, the skin is more exposed so a dog can get sunburn. (The #4FC is the shortest you can go to provide sun protection). As with the other blades, this one gets hot quickly and I spray it with Andis Cool Care often throughout. I use an old toothbrush to wipe clean when I'm done. All the Andis blades are well made and look very durable. I only wish they didn't get so hot so quickly. Maybe I'll try the ceramic blade next.

This length blade was recommended by a professional pet groomer. I have a Miniature Schnauzer mix dog and was having a problem using attachments on the #10 blade...still couldn't get that smooth look I wanted. Bought this blade and it is perfect...not too long and not too short a cut. This length blade is difficult to find in pet stores...they generally stock a #4FC (their longest cut blade) and a #5FC blade, and a #8FC blade, in addition to the stock #10 blade which comes with the trimmers. I also found that the store prices are slightly higher than found at Amazon.com (especially since you can qualify for free shipping). Great blade...love the AGC quick changeability of these type of blades. Since I trim 2 dogs and their coats require different length blades, I can change them in a snap without having to mess with screws, etc. This length blade is a good all-around blade...it leaves just enough hair on your dog without getting close like the #10 does, and you don't have to mess around with the attachments (which I find to be a pain really).

I got this size for the body of my Standard Poodle. They have a course hair and my blades start to dull after about 6 months. I find this ceramic blade is holding an edge longer than the steel blades. I do make sure they are oiled before use, and oil them when I store them. Great blade.
