Between "student" and "professional" Very good color set
The Ladoga colors are made by Saint Petersburg aka Yarka in Russia. The brand has several lines: Sonata (student) Ladoga (semi-pro) and St. Petersburg White Nights (professional.) These are poured pans, almost what you would call "Full Pan" and semi moist. They work up fast with a wet brush so are convenient for carrying but can make a big amount of wash without a lot of scrubbing and waiting for water to moisten. The Ladoga colors are almost indistinguishable from "White Nights" except that the colors might have a touch more filler: when I did a swatch test, I could see some of the identical colors (ie Blue Lake) were less intense and dried with a very faint chalkiness that White Nights doesn't show. The 24 color set is a good value although there are two useless or almost useless pans, white and neutral black, something most watercolorists won't use; black leaves a "hole" in the composition and doesn't make the reflected darks that shadows truly display, and white makes colors opaque, while transparency is the usual goal. Some of the colors are definitely fugitive although White Nights uses some of the same fugitive pigments. Blue Lake is probably PB1 (chemical designation of Pigment Blue #1, Victoria Blue) This pigment first darkens, then fades away. Violet Rose, a bright magenta, doesn't give the pigment name but really looks a lot like PV2 and the lightfastness rating on the box is 1 star so I assume it is PV2 and relatively fugitive. You can often tell if the color is bright--because bright pinks and violets are usually not lightfast. Rose is also listed as 1 Star and the Green might be the old Hooker's Green, not used much anymore by watercolor makers but listed as 2 star. The pans don't print the color name on them, and when I opened the box, the pans had shifted so I didn't exactly know who belonged under the very nice plastic cover with color names. But you can figure that out. Use a fine Sharpie to label them if you want to move them to a permanent box or palette. The cardboard box is not great--but you can find plastic or metal palette boxes that hold these pans and even switch them around with new colors if you change your palette choices. This set has all the colors I typically use but I would often add a more lemony yellow and something like Naples yellow (dull opaque yellow, great for flesh tones and sunlit buildings) and sometimes Paynes Grey or Indanthrone Blue or Indigo, darks that aren't black but mixed with Burnt Umber that make amazing dark shadows. If I were using this set as my primary watercolor palette, I'd toss the white and black and add a yellow and Indigo. The colors are the ones most used for watercolor, especially nice to have 2 yellows, and the Orange is a red brown orange so pleasing if you don't like fluorescent shades. There are plenty of earth shades (yellow ochre, red ochre, English red, Burnt Umber, Raw Umber, Sepia and Raw Sienna) so for landscapes, this set is excellent. Incidentally, the name Ladoga is the largest lake entirely in Europe, so this set speaks to landscape painting. As to the lightfastness of a few shades, if you do notebooks and aren't selling your originals or if you make prints, no problem. For people doing classes and wanting a very affordable and excellent palette of colors that will perform, you've got it here. The St Petersburg brand has become a sort of "in secret" of people who want travel colors that work up well and are more affordable than the premium brands you'd rather leave in your studio. You can always toss the fugitive colors and replace with more expensive versions that are lightfast.Summary:Pro: colors as good as the professional line "White Nights" with a few fugitive colors that can be substituted.Bright, creamy and easy to work up from the poured pans I'd recommend these for students wanting to save on a set of paints because these function at a veryGood value, plenty of paintColor range in the set is excellent.Cons:No labels on the pans, use a Sharpie to rectify this as they fall out of the boxThey fall out of the boxYou may want to invest in a sturdy palette box that holds the pans.

Incredible professional paints with incredible price
I have more than 50 watercolor paint sets, budget and artist quality. This set is no doubt one of the most vibrant and transparent. Very easy to rewet and spread nicely on cotton paper. They felt just like my professional paints and I found YT video which also said they were high quality paints. The only downside is it came in a cardboard box as seen in the picture, which did not have any sealing or supporting materials. The shipping package wasn’t wrapped well either, basically just this box in a bubble-wrap envelope. So many pans had fallen out of their slots. But for its incredible price and quality this didn’t really matter. No pans were broken or missing and they are big full pans, not standard full-size pan but close. It’s a lot of paint and good surface area for a mid-sized brush. Highly recommend!

Paint's Awesome, Packaging Sucks!!!
When I saw the package I thought the paints were going to be shattered but they weren't thankfully. Very flimsy cardboard box they come in. Pic doesn't even really show how flimsy it is. However, after swatching these and doing a quick lil painting I really like these already. I just need to find a different way to store them.

Easy to rewet and so vibrant. Water is your friend. Didn't need the white but will keep it.
I looked for and at these paints for a while and on one particular day found them on a deal. I am pleased with the paints I received. I combined this with the Leningrad palette and ordered a few to fill the spots. Great paints and great price.

Excellent Watercolors!
It's just happened I ordered the Watercolor in the wrong time and waited for 2.5 months. But !!!!!!!!!!!!!It was worth it! The colors are vibrant and awesome! I love it so much!!! It's so easy to use! With just a light touch I'm getting enough paint on my brush. I recommend it to everybody who likes Watercolor. I tried several and even liquid watercolor, this is my favorite!!!
