Our 5 years old iron broke and we randomly picked this one as the replacement. We weren't expecting anything phenomenal since we thought all irons are similar. But this unit is actually a step up from our old reliable workhorse. The weight is lighter so easier to maneuver. The iron heats up much faster, saving valuable time getting ready for work. Worked perfectly with my stubborn thick hair. The instruction manual with helpful tips are actually easy to understand. Good overall build quality that doesn't feel cheap.

It fails after 6 months of light use

This is a really great hair straightening flat iron, and that’s a lot coming from me. I have very long type-3B curly hair that is prone to getting frizzy. It takes me a little over an hour on a good day to get my hair straightened. Realizing that sadly, I needed a new hair straightener, I’ve been looking at various straightening irons to figure out what works best for my type of hair. This hair straightener has plates made of ceramic tourmaline which prevents hair damage and helps to keep frizz in check. The plates on these straighteners heats up very quickly and holds the heat really well. It has a swivel cord that is very convenient especially when adding a little curl to the end of my hair. Also, the cord is nice and long so it’s easy to plug it in and still be able to rest the iron in between getting the sections ready to straighten. It’s a good product that works really well. My curly hair is straight with no frizz and that’s really the most I need from a hair straightener. Definitely recommend for 3b curly hair or finer!

This could be the best flat iron I have ever purchased. I have had nearly every popular flat iron brand over the last 25+ yrs. I have had CHI, FHI, Sedu, Babyliss, Rusk, HSI, and a lot of lesser known brands in between. The main thing I have noticed is that my hair responds best to tourmaline irons, which have been using over the past decade, but they have become increasingly harder to find and more EXPENSIVE. Enter Nition. The last good flat iron I had was a Sedu tourmaline and prior to that Babyliss tourmaline. The Sedu I purchased was used after I tried some generic flat irons which burned and fried my hair. I was struggling to find an iron that my hair would respond to. After some time, the Sedu stopped working and I was back on the hunt. I purchased two other brands from Amazon that were just awful for my hair. I took a stab at purchasing the Nition after reading a number of positive reviews. Admittedly, I didn’t have very high hopes because the price was so affordable (sad, I know). Upon its arrival I was pleasantly surprised. I don’t really get excited about packaging, but wow was I blown away by the presentation. The storage/cooling case and the glove was such a nice touch. It honestly is something that I would expect from a more high-end product. The iron itself is sleek and lightweight with a pretty LED digital temperature control dial at the base. But most of all. The performance is phenomenal. I have fine AA hair that normally does not curl tightly. I can generally get a “bend”, but a full curl is nearly impossible for me. This iron also heats up very fas, so very little wait time. The other thing is my hair is generally pretty shiny on its own, but I have had some irons that have made my hair look dull. This one not only adds shine, but it keeps the frizz away also. Finally, my hair doesn’t feel dried out farted days of daily usage. I honestly love this iron. I look forward to how quickly I can curl my short pixie. It just works so well. I only had one con with my purchase and that was the the temperature control skipped several increments. I could manage to make it work for me, and initially I thought it was a feature, but I read that it might be a design flaw. After three months, I decided I would reach out to customer service about the matter. To be honest, I didn’t really expect to get a response. And since it wasn’t “broken” and I like it so well, I probably would not have been very upset if I did not get a response-but wow. Last Wednesday I emailed customer service about my issue. Within two hours, I got a response back from the after sales rep, Rain. She was so kind and accommodating in her email. She didn’t hesitate to to start working on my replacement immediately, since it was still under warranty. She asked me for some information that I provided quickly and she immediately processed my replacement. I couldn’t believe that Saturday, before 12:00 pm, I had received my replacement. It’s working perfectly. I must say this has to be the best purchasing experience I have ever had. This is the longest review I have ever written, which says a lot because I am usually kinda lazy about reviewing products. I just want everyone to buy this product so that it will always be around! The product is wonderful, but the level of customer service that I received was phenomenal. Well, thanks for coming to my Ted Talk. I hope this review helps someone who may be on the fence about purchasing.

I bought this product to replace my old straightening iron. I was particularly looking for one that can be used for wet & dry hair, and decided to buy this. After going thru so many flat irons (drugstore, high-end, unknown) I would say that I am really surprised and happy with this one. It heats up to 450F really fast. I used it at 400F, But it doesn’t feel like it at first because you can actually still touch the outer part of the plates without burning your fingers. But once you run it thru your hair, that’s when you’ll feel that it is 400F. I have thick, coarse hair and this straightened it really well. It will not give you that pin-straight kind, but I am happy with it. It didn’t fry my hair. It left my hair looking healthy and shiny. I don’t know for how long it will last me, but I do hope it will go for years. Also, I would like to commend NITION’s great customer service. They kept in touch after I have received the product, and told me about the warranty AND the extended warranty. They are also sending me a free paddle brush. I have bought quite a bunch of stuff in amazon, but this is the first time someone from a company’s customer service actually reached out by messaging me about warranty and other concerns without me initiating it. I am a very happy customer.
