A celebration of the amazing human machine and a life on the move! Your amazing body can jump, sprint, twist, and twirl. Your body is built to move. Lizzy Rockwell explains how your bones and muscles, heart and lungs, nerves and brain all work together to keep you on the go. Kids walk and skate and tumble through these pages with such exuberance that even sprouting couch potatoes will want to get up and bounce aroundโand thatโs the ultimate goal. Studies show that American kids are becoming more sedentary and more overweight and that they carry these tendencies with them into adolescence and adulthood. Experts agree that we need to help kids make physical activity a life-long habit. Through education, information, and encouragement, this book aims to inspire a new generation of busy bodies! Review: Fantastic Exercise and Health Book for Kids and Parents - If you are a teacher or parent and you are looking for a book on how to encourage better health habits for young children, this is it! The pictures are really good: large, attractive pictures of children in motion - large enough for children sitting in the back rows to see. As the author tells the story of exercise and health she includes pictures of the body: skeleton, the muscles and tendons, brain and nervous system (shows the 5 senses in side bar), Lungs, Heart and Blood vessels and Stomach and Intestines. My class is 4 year old children. I'm sure it would be of interest to children up to 3rd grade too. The back section includes 2 pages of drawings of "kids in motion" which I removed and cut up for activity cards in our classroom. Then last pages suggests exercises for young children. Book is approx. 8-1/2" x 11" in size, with wipe off cover. Excellent content (30 pages but without page numbers), Attractive and Good Value. Review: My students love to have this book read to them - I am a PE & Health teacher. My students love to have this book read to them, or to read it themselves when possible. The book is fact based, but written in a way children can understand. This makes it easy to re-visit the book, or pages of the book, to review facts.

my 2 year old likes it
I bought this after checking it out from the library. My two year old has become very interested in her body and this is a nicely done book. Not too complicated, and not too simple

Perfect Introduction to Body Science for Young Children
This is perfect for children to be introduced to the body and how it works without going over their heads or leaving it so infantile that there is nothing to learn. We used this as a jumping off point in science to talk about eating healthy exercise and how it impacts our entire system. But by itself it still holds their attention and interest... the page that showed food did not have enough greenery nor the rainbow of vegetables that I would have liked to see, but it is a jumping off point. Very happy we invested in this book!

A Must-Have and a Keeper
This book is comprehensive, covering a range of health-related topics, presented in kid-friendly terms. Each topic is covered first briefly, and then in greater detail. It would be interesting to adults as well.

It's not a bad book but you probably do not need to actually ...
This is such a general book and at such a beginning level. I had purchased it for my 2nd grader but it more appropriate for my 4-year-old. It's not a bad book but you probably do not need to actually buy it.

This is a super little book that clearly explains the various body systems in a format that is suitable for younger children. Clear and colourful illustrations as well as a strong, encouraging message about the importance of physical activity to maintain good health are very well presented and great to have when children begin to ask questions about how their own bodies function. The illustrations are simple enough that a young child can comprehend them, where we have found other children's books on human anatomy are either too graphic or complex for them to grasp the basic concepts of how our bodies work. My little one - age 5 - first discovered this amazing little book at our local library, and was so intruiged by it (after checking it out from the library MANY times) that I finally decided to purchase her a copy all of her own. It's just a superb little book and a very useful addition to our home library!
