Pro-JectRecord Puck Heavy Weight Record Stabilizer (Black)

Heavy, Great Built Quality, and Nice Finish
First things first: yes! It is expensive, but so is everything else vinyl. The good thing is that it actually works, and it eliminated all the pops that I was hearing with my brand new records. It's quite heavy and very well made with a nice matt finish. The wooden box is nicely done with Pro-Ject logo embossed on the top and red velvet carpeted inside. The locking system on the one that I received is completely different from the product picture above. Mine doesn't have the latches and actually has a more sophisticated magnets on the lids. Overall, this is a nice record puck and a nice addition for your listening rituals. Now, you'll have one more thing to do before moving the arm and dropping the needle on the record.

Worth the money
Reluctant to buy this due to price, but you get what you pay for. Nice and heavy, well balanced and the box is superb. Excellent product with a fair price.

Definitely not worth the money
Received the first one, it came out of the flimsy box it was packed in and was just loose in the shipping bag. Multiple chips on the paint. I returned that one and ordered a replacement and that one was chipped as well. Also, no nice wooden box that some people say they received. This cost a lot of money for something that just falls apart. Ridiculous.

Heavy. Well built. Reassuring.
Pricey but works well. I don't know if the puck reduces pops and crackles, but the records are definitely moving more steadily with it on.I do not notice any sound quality improvements (yet) on my Pro-Ject Debut Carbon DC, but feel a sense of reassurance and completeness with the hefty puck on the rig.

Pricey, but excellent product
After looking at other pucks and clamps, I came to realize they are not just inexpensive hunks of metal. They need to be balanced, machined to fit, and heavy. The Pro-Ject puck does indeed have all of these traits, and ultimately it helps promote a cleaner, tighter sound, that is to some ears noticeable.

Does the job
Great puck, does the work. I don’t think it should be this price but it’s worth it. The quality is there, including the wooden box.

Well-made, attractive puck, comes in a lovely box, but what does it do?
The puck is well-made and attractive, and it comes in a lovely and nicely crafted box. It's heavy (1 pound and 12 ounces), but it's absolutely no problem for my turntable - the weight rests downward, and the turntable isn't trying to lift the platter upward, it's trying to turn the platter round a horizontal plane, so the weight of the puck really isn't an issue. So far, so good. But does it do anything useful?People claim the puck makes records sound better, makes bass deeper or better-defined, widens the soundstage. If it did any of those things, even if there's a chance it improved the sound quality a little, spending $80 for the puck would be a no-brainer, right? That was why I bought one. I've had it for a few weeks, listened to many records with and without the puck. Guess what? Doesn't make a bit of difference in sound quality. Those claims that sounded too good to be true, were not true in my experience. What about warped records? In my experience, slightly warped records aren't a problem, whether I'm using this puck or not. Heavily warped records indeed sound wobbly, and this puck doesn't help them sound better. So, what is the puck good for? I don't know, and I regret the purchase.--update:Lots of people say this makes a difference and is worth the price. I believe that they are telling the truth. What might explain why the puck works for some people but not others?I'm not sure, but here's one possibility. My turntable came with a heavy acrylic platter. Some turntables have platters made of lighter materials. It might be that pucks make more difference on lighter platters, which without a puck might conduct more ambient vibration to the tone-arm. (Sorry, I'm sure "ambient vibration" isn't the right word. What I mean is vibration in the room that's so subtle most humans don't notice it, but is enough to affect the very sensitive tone arm on most turntables.)Another possibility is that some people, whether they have a heavy platter or not, might live in an environment with more ambient vibration, and for them, using the puck helps prevent the turntable from conducting the vibration to the tone arm.

Worth It
It’s pricey, but you get what you pay for. It has a classic look and matches perfectly with my ProJect Esprit turntable.

Nice and heavy
A really well made and heavy weight which works lovely for flattening warped vinyl. Yes it is expensive, but in my opinion well worth it. I have tried cheaper ones in the past and been disappointed with them. This one ticks all the boxes.
