Organic Pest Control & Fertilizer
I purchased this mainly for its pest control capabilities-- to be able to work the neem cake into the surface of the soil (or into a soil mix) as an insect repellant throughout my garden. We use this as part of a multi-pronged attack on our pests, which include spider mites, japanese flea beetles and cabbage looper moths, in conjunction with other application methods (like Bio-Neem) and other organic pest control methods. This is a really awesome product because of its two-fold nature-- there aren't many substances that function as an insect repellant AND a fertilizer. Granted, as a fertilizer, it is limited in use (for me that translates into "goes well with other ingredients in a custom soil mix"), but it can be used in multiple ways.Important to note that I would NOT consider this as a SINGLE method of pest control. Please look elsewhere if your main goal is to get rid of spider mites or other pests. This is a TOOL which can be used towards that end, but alone, it is highly unlikely to succeed (without a herculean effort).

You have to know what you are doing.
It all started with me not being able to open the bucket....After prying and pulling and throwing this little bucket of neem cake I was unable to open this product. Frustrated, I reluctantly grabbed my wand and figured it wouldn't hurt to give it a whirl. ALAS, a simple "Alohomora "(Unlocking Charm) and it popped right open (by wand I mean knife).I am giving this product a three star review because I believe that if a person actually knew what they are doing, then they would use this product correctly. However, I did not see any improvements to my garden after using this. I was unsure about the proper usage and I was exhausted from reading varying instructions before I just closed my eyes and dispersed the neem cake.Defeated, I wish for you a much better experience. Again, I think a plant master will have better luck than I, especially with opening the bucket.

Fungus gnats!
After using garden soil with potted seedlings and noticing a huge amount of fungus gnats thriving in my house, I looked online and read that a good 'top dressing' and 'soil soaking' of neem cake would do the trick. Doesn't 'top dressing' sound nice.. well.. here's the thing. I should have listened to the other reviewers who mentioned that it did nothing against fungus gnats because, it didn't. I incorporated it into soil, did soil drenches and a top dressing. The fungus gnats loved it. They bathed in it, laughing happily, chuckling as I spent near $100 or more on lots of these pretty little tubs of yummy 'neem cake'. The only positive is that my sunflowers thrived. Other seedlings seemed to die though so neem make have an adverse effect on roots( exposed to it directly?) of newly potted seedlings. SAVE YOUR MONEY FOLKS. IT DOES NO-THING AGAINST FUNGUS GNATS. Try the yellow stickie traps instead. That works wonders.

Two Stars
Doesn't cover much crop and didn't see benefits from using it.

Smells funny, but works well!
This is working better than I thought it would for fungus gnats. just put this around the base of the plant. The other thing I am doing is putting it in the water, so I am really getting rid of the pests. The only downside, is that I am now having to kill the adult gnats. But they are no longer laying eggs.

Didnt help with garden bugs
After reading reviews of other neem cake products, I decided to buy this and see if it would help get rid of the soil bugs im having a problem with in my garden. After a month of use, no luck on getting rid of them so this product did not help. I did not buy this with the intent of using it as a nutrient for my plants so i cant comment on that.
