PHOCUS Super Clamp with Standard 5/8" Stud for Photography Studio Video Camera Lighting, Max Load 33lb /15kg, for Round Pipe and Flat Surface

This clamp was perfect for my PTZ rig used as the high position camera that provides an overhead closeup of the OR table of procedures we record or transmit live in our hospital. I used the top of an old light stand with a 1/4-20 stud as the arm, screwed it into this clamp and used an adjustable C-stand elbow at the other end. I used the 1/4-20 stud that came with the clamp as the mount for the JVC PTZ camera. Love this clamp–it's beefy and secure with an adjustability that allows it to be used with my larger light stands.

These are 90% as good as a manfrotto super clamp, and that is good enough. It's a super clamp. It clamps. It is secure, takes the same studs, and for as many of these are required to have around the studio, being able to buy more for the money pays off.

It's a solid superclamp at a good price. The crank handle is great to double as a cable hook. I also love this combo with the multi-end stud.

I have purchased a few of these, and have found them to be useful, and exactly as I had hoped and expected.

I have purchased 10+ Manfrotto grips in the past and these do the job! The handle is actually much more pleasant to use with this brand. The ONLY flaw I have seen so far is that if you tighten these too much, the plastic layer of the angled grip surface will come off of the grip and stick to the surface of the pole. You can easily snap it back in or use a little super glue to fix the issue permanently. I have purchased about 8 of these and this has happened 1-2 times. UPDATE: I have to dock a couple stars for an issue I noticed. (ai should have rated this thing at 4.5 first, now its about 3.7 Stars) When using the more reliable hexagon pins, (as depicted in my last photo) there is not enough clearance inside the clamp for a secure fit. You can see how much more space there is inside around the edges for the hexagon part of the pin to sit. The next two photos show a clear example of how the pin completely sits inside the manfrotto, whereas the Phocus leaves it hanging out. To add insult to injury, the push pin doesn't lock in this situation- so you can pull the entire thing out with enough force - removing the important redundancy of the safety push pin. This issue is only on 1/2 of the device as the clamp itself holds up fine, and its only for hexagon pins, but its a glaring issue that I want to point out as an owner of several of both the Phocus and Manfrotto models.
