Easy, small and quiet
I have a roll up door that this fits onto, and if you do too this is way better than a chain drive overhead model. It’s just a light little box in the corner and it is mostly silent. It even is short enough to fit over an entry door which is the only space it will fit. It has a quality feel to the parts, it isn’t cheaply built. Not sure why some say the install needs to be by a professional. Sure it takes some fiddling, and the programming instructions, even with the video took a few tries, but it is actually easier to put up alone than a big overhead unit. I don’t think the door is especially slow either, it’s quite an adequate speed. I like the light that can go anywhere and stays on when unloading at night, and the wireless opening button is also good for locating it. I haven’t yet needed the backup battery but power goes out regularly here so I’m glad to have it. The only thing Genie could fix is the feel of the button on the car remote. It doesn’t have a detent so it doesn’t feel like you pressed anything. It’s a “squeezing a rubber puck” feeling. I’m used to it now, and I just squeeze the puck once and trust that it works, and it has every time. I’ll buy another one of these Genies for my other door if I ever need one.

Haven't installed yet.
I haven't installed yet due to conflicting instructions and the coupler provided. Critical measurements page says (B) distance from bearing plate and end of torsion bar shaft no less than 2 1/4 inches but the diagram on the same page says (B)=at least 4 inches. Representative told me that his computer screen says at least 2 1/2 inches. So, I guess the minimum required length is 2 1/2". The coupler bolts are installed in the flush with coupler internal bore position already. They are also pre treated with a locking compound which I think is causing a problem. The bolts can't be turned by hand at all! The instructions call for finger tightening bolts prior to turning one turn with wrench. That can't be done in the state they are in. I am on hold for agent, can't wait for their ideas. I read a review complaining about bolts damaging the operator shaft preventing the torsion shaft from being able to fit inside the opener. I don't want that to happen. Am on phone with rep. Ok, agent from Genie advises me to turn bolts with wrench until they stop turning, which is supposed to indicate that they are fully tightened. So, even though that step isn't done until the unit is level on the shaft, evidently leveling opener and then wrench tightening the coupler on the door shaft until they stop turning is adequate for installation. Very nice agent. She reminded me that the calls are recorded and if any damage happened to my opener as a result of following their instructions, that they would take care of any repairs, parts etc. needed to fix it. I will post a follow up review letting you know what happens.

Compact, decent closer and so much cleaner than overhead ones.
I have put off reviewing these because of my mixed feelings. They were easy to set up and the instructions were clear. They are more affordable than the lift master, and more compact. I also like the locks included with them. Those are the pros. Now for the cons. They are slower. Probably twice as slow as a lift master. They stutter or shudder when they start to close. I think this is due to them trying to sense if the door is coming down as it is unwinding the cable because as soon as it gets going it goes away and closes smoothly. We will see how long they last.

Best garage door I’ve ever owned
This garage door opener works great the battery even opens it when there is no power although it is much slower when there is no power but it does open. This thing is so quiet you can not even hear it opening looks great, great price battery is always ready to go whenever the power is out . I have had this for about a year and it is very reliable I have had no problems whatsoever

spendy, but worth it
spendy, but if it lasts (let's hope it does) it's well worth the price. Super (relatively) easy to install, very VERY quiet, set-up is a snap. travel limiters were my only issue, I had to reset it once because it seemed "wonky" but now it's working properly. easily lifts 16x9 fully insulated Clo-Pay door. Better ratings than the lift-master so that's why i bought the Genie and I'm very happy so far :) NOTE: internal transformer does make transformer noise. very dim hum but noticeable.

Slow
Genie opens very slowly. Comes with only one remote and you are forced to buy their extra remote because it can’t connect to a universal remote.
