Safety Toolbox: Advanced Defensive Strategies & Tactical Tools for Pool & Pocket Billiards

Defense is more than just a shot you play here and there. It is a mindset that few people embrace. My game is often so defensive it is offensive. Most of this book’s contents proved to be a review for me but it served to validate my approach to the game and also provided some choice nuggets of information.I can’t in good conscience recommend this book simply because I don’t want to see pool rooms filled with players who actually understand how to play the game and not just sell out. I regularly use and implement so many of the strategies in this book it’s not even funny. In short, it works!People think I am crazy when I opt for a defensive shot instead of just running out. Well, maybe I am but you can think about that when you are handing me the cue ball after I play that shot.

This an excellent book to sharpen all aspects of your defensive skills in all billiard games. What is really nice is the fact that if some aspect is not clear to you, a email to the author, Allan Sand, he will get back to you and answer your question. Not many authors would bother to do that, I promise you. I was in a nine ball tournament recently and many of the situations in this book were put to use. If you practice the drills diligently that are in this book, you should raise your game a few levels and drive your opponent crazy. If you are serious about your game, you should purchase this book. You will not be disappointed.

Being and intermediate player, this book has forced me to look at pool from another point of view. I see safeties just as much a weapon as pocketing balls. This book has made me more effective against higher rank players. This is a recommended read for beginners to intermediate players.

A great addition to any billiard library. Easy to understand concepts that are equally effective.

You can gain a lot from this book, but you have to work at it.On the downside, the pool table diagrams are pathetic. Both the solids and striped balls are printed in black with white numbers (kindle edition). This makes them ambiguous. Awful! Too many are very complicated. Worst yet, there aren't enough of them. He says so much leaving it to your imagination.He fails to mention that there are also safety probabilities too. If you avoid a low probability shot and try a low probability safety, you can make a worse mess of it! Done it!The author does cover possibilities, gives guidance and gets you thinking about the other side of the game. I plan to go in depth with the things he only mentions.

then it's time to play nasty little safeties that give you "ball i hand". This book is packed with GREAT stuff that will certainly help you come to the table and think "defense". It's a great tool and you should own a copy if you are a serious pool player. If you never fail to run out, then don't buy it, but not even pros can do that 100% of the time and amateurs worse still...so buy the book and add a whole never level to your game.

There is a goldmine of information in this book. I believe that the author's info and perspective can be used by all levels of players. The application of his information will lead to more enjoyable games and more wins! A very valuable addition to my library.

Use this and you will be playing a totally different game. Every serious player that wants to win will be glad to own the book.
