Coppice Agroforestry: Tending Trees for Product, Profit, and Woodland Ecology Review: Great reference book - I had to get this book for a class. It was actually an enjoyable read that was extremely informative. It is staying in my stack of books to reference back to because of the detailed information, charts, graphs and drawings that explain everything in multiple ways to ensure you are able to understand visually as well. I strongly recommend this book for anyone that is wanting to learn agroforestry and how to care for various types of trees. After reading it you will find yourself looking at various trees with a more advanced understanding of their growth and why they are shaped the way they are and what the benefits of that may be. Review: Inspirational and Informative - So much useful information--historical, current, practices, etc. I read this book cover to cover, and was greatly inspired. I already have willow beds which I coppice, but we have since planted a block of Shumard oaks for a firewood coppice lot. But TONS of great applications!

This is a sustainable approach to forestry
This is a comprehensive and thoughtful book about Coppicing. It has a wonderful historical background that you will not find anywhere in one volume. The author is thoughtful about this approach to harvesting trees for wood or lumber. It is exceptional.

Best history book I have read and it's not a history book
Every now and then a book pulls back the curtain on a subject and the whole world looks different; that's how I feel after reading the first third of this book. I learned more about human history from this book than I have in the last decade....and I read a lot! If you have even the most remote interest in how humans have historically interacted with trees and landscapes and how our world today directly reflects those actions, read this book. If you have any interest at all in learning about coppicing trees as a renewable resource, read this book. This is one of the more remarkable books I have ever read.

The most thorough and well researched nonfiction book I've ever encountered
This book covers it *all* in the perfect amount of detail to answer every single follow up question you will have to each new fact and technique that you will be exposed to while thumbing through this massive tome. I had heard about this pending book in various permaculture and forestry circles for quite a while, and when it was finally published and showed up on Amazon for purchase I was surprised at the cost and felt the praise being heaped on it was probably a little over the top because this author clearly has many friends in the permaculture world. I was so terribly wrong. So many times while reading this masterpiece I was overwhelmed with appreciation and awe at the amount of work that clearly went into creating this precious resource for all the rest of us (and I felt deep regret at waiting for a used copy to come up for sale!). I'm so grateful to have this book in my library and I fully expect it to become my most referenced textbook as we finally put into action the decade+ of dreaming and planning how to get out of the madness of the cities and instead build a truly sustainable and rewarding life in the woods. One reviewer's comment that particularly made me roll my eyes before I read the book myself said something akin to this book being "critical for the survival of future generations" - but I can see what they meant now and I have to second that sentiment. If you've ever felt a pang of worry about the effects of our societal failures to teach young people ANYTHING of value, you will feel that worry soothed, if only a little, that a reference like this will be available for the ones that seek it out. I think the author should be very proud of what he has accomplished here. I cannot think of a single textbook that I have ever encountered that was as thorough a collection of *truly useful* information as this.

Definitive Coppice Manual
I could write ten thousand words about how this book is worth every dollar you spend on it. I feel this book is worth a buy even if you only have a few dozen trees you have to prune every year. Just to give you ideas on what else you could be doing with the branches you might be mulching, but you could do so so much more. If you have the information. That is what this book is. Pure information. So even if you are planting a small food forest, or wanting to scale up a biochar, or wood cutting business. This book is probably one of my top 5.

Definitive treatise
I have nothing to add other than to say that if you are into permaculture and sustainable ag, Krawczyk's has put together a tome that is every bit as important as Bill Mollison's original text. I cannot recommend this book highly enough. If you have more than two trees on your property, this title is for you.

I became interested in coppicing after watching some videos on YouTube about the practice. I was having a hard time finding info on coppicing in North America, as it seems this practice didn't really make it over with European settlers and of course much of the Indigenous history of coppicing was lost and devalued by colonial powers. What the author has achieved with this book is incredible. I feel like I have a good guidebook for managing my woodland sustainably and being able to make great use of the resources at hand. I am building my first willow coppice this fall!

I've lacked a book about coppicing that goes deeper into both theory and practice, very good work laying down the history, the biological bases and the practical know how. I already manage a copse and I found quite nice info.
