The classic guide to the cultural and spiritual treasures of Judaism is now updated for the first time in 15 years to reflect changes in the modern Jewish community. Living a Jewish Life describes Judaism as not just a contemplative or abstract system of thought but as a blueprint for living fully and honorably. This new edition builds on the classic guide, which has been a favorite among Jewish educators and students for years. Enriched with additional resources, including online resources, this updated guide also references recent changes in the modern Jewish community. Addressing the choices posed by the modern world, Living a Jewish Life explains the traditions and beliefs of Judaism in the context of real life. It explores the spectrum of liberal Jewish thought, from Conservative to Reconstructionist to Reform, as well as unaffiliated, new age, and secular. Celebrating the diversity of Jewish beliefs, this guide provides a wealth of information that allows readers to make informed choices about how to incorporate Judaism into their lives. Review: Excellent resource! - One of the best books about Jewish living Iโve read. Highly recommend! Review: Best How-To Book I Have Read - Very well thought out and useful to someone looking to start practicing Judaism in their life. It explains what to do in laymenโs terms and with just enough of the โwhyโ behind it without long-winded boring detail like a PhD textbook. Unlike all the Judaism books I have read by Rabbiโs and Scholars about Holidays, practices, and everyday life, this has been to best so far. Itโs well laid out. For instance, if you want to start practicing Shabbat at home the author gives a brief explanation of why itโs important to Jewish life, then a step-by-step process to follow, including any necessary prayers (transliterated in Hebrew & English). The glossary is also a handy reference.

A very brief intro, nothing substantial really
The topics contained are good with decent information and the book is generally an easy read. I find it to be a good and simple introduction and I will say that the holiday chapters are quite informative in a simple way. I find the book a very light offering, yet very strong in it's delivery, therefore, a strong yet simple introduction to topics, which in my opinion, makes for a good start!

Used but BETTER THAN EXPECTED
I bought it used as opposed to new and itโs in really decent shape. Of course, there are a few folded corners, but the book has held up well. Saved a bunch of dough buying used so Iโm looking for other good books. I am a member of the Jewish community and this book provides an excellent read on the religion as a whole, holidays, committees, and family functions. ๐

Nuts and bolts.
If you would like to know the nuts and bolts of Jewish life (from the liberal perspective) then here it is. The book is straight to the point, concise and free of fluff.
