Superman : The Animated Series [Blu-ray] [1996] [Region Free]

I never watched superman the animated series when i was a kid as i never knew it existed until i was a teenager, I watched Batman The animated series obsessively and well being that this takes place in the DCAU i just had to check it out.I Have owned the DVD’s for years and when this was announced for a USA release i was so hoping for a UK release and alas we have gotten one :)Right off the bat i will say that not as much love has gone into the packaging as it did with Batman the animated series, Its a standard amaray case with the discs and episode names listed inside, Not a deal breaker of course but it would have been nice to get a limited edition box like the Batman Animated series 1st release boxset.Now onto Picture quality… The show has never looked as crisp and colourful as it does here, All the old pieces of dirt, dust and wear have been scrubbed and fixed, Some minor DNR has been introduced but its not excessive and it actually benefits the picture quality overall.The audio is crisp and clear with the DTS HD 2.0 Master audio, Sounds great, Includes English, French, Latin Spanish in 2.0 and also includes English and French Subtitles.The bonus features are great, You get a bunch of legacy features and a all new documentary for this set.Overall I highly recommend picking this up if like me you are a massive DC fan. Even if it is your first introduction to the Classic Man of Steel series… it still holds up, Even if you have the old dvd boxset this set is worth upgrading to as the picture quality is miles improved.Overall this release is Highly recommended by myself and it is a fantastic addition to anyone’s Bruce Timm DC Animated Universe (DCAU) collection.

I have been waiting for this to happen since I first watched the show way back on TV in. The 90s . Unfortunately they stopped airring too expensive for UK broadcasters I believe .But flash forward to now the show stands with the Great Animated Batman series and even crosses over with both shows .Entertainment 10+Value 10+Video quality 10 +Sound 10+Every episode is captured here lovely restoration shows the colour pops and sound design is Steller lots of base for 5.1 surrounding sound .The only down side is the special features not in the Blu-ray quality just bog standard dvd and Even less so . The audio commentary is the stand out for a few episodes reminds me of the Batman series .Package is unfortunately a let down they made a great batman package I guess they ran out of time .9/10 overall best superman since reeves .

The HD looks amazing and the show as probably everyone knows is epic.The one issue is it is advertised as 16:9 aspect ratio, however it's actually 4:3 so has the thick black lines at either side of the screen and that was really disappointing.I only had this on region 1 DVD so this is a serious upgrade that was worth getting overall.

Happy with this set looks great in blu ray. Packaging not as nice as the batman animated series sets tho.
