We like to keep our coffee hot and do not like burnt coffee if we leave it in our coffee maker. So, we brew our coffee and then move it to a thermos or carafe to keep hot. In the past, we had good carafes, but if you do not brew alot of coffee and the carafe is huge, then the coffee just does not stay warm. We brew about 8-10 cups a day and this carafe is just perfect. The style is wonderful, easy handle to hold and pour and the lid does not whistle or steam like some other carafes we had in the past. Plus, of course, most importantly, it keeps the coffee nice and hot. Definitely a winner!

I am one of those persons that eats breakfast slowly so, often my coffee would get cold by the time I got to the last cup. This carafe is perfect for me in two ways: it keeps my coffee hot long enough to last to the end and, because of its size, it helps me to moderate my coffee consumption down to three medium-sized mugs a day.As for the shape, clumsy me loves the wider bottom so I can't knock it down accidentally...As I read the other comments, I see lots of complaints about a plastic or metallic smell.When I first got the carafe, I did notice that "new item" scent so I took it completely apart, scrubbed it gently with a microfiber cloth dabbed in warm water and sprinkled with dry bicarbonate soda and let it sit and dry for an hour before rinsing. Everything was fine after that.Apparently, some folks still smell it after washing; it's possible the manufacturer does not have a strict quality control in regards to the rubber used for the gaskets...I also noticed comments about a metal smell/taste. If they did clean the carafe's inside as described above but still find it smells/tastes of metal, the water quality could be the problem. I use regular tap water but I do so after I took a bath or shower so the water that has been sitting in the pipes all night long is now gone. I also let the kitchen tap run for a minute (into a watering can) to flush that part of the pipes.If all else fails, like in the summertime where the City adds extra chlorine to the water, there is always the option to give your coffee or tea some extra flavour by pouring in 2 tablespoons of vanilla (for the coffee) or 1/2 teaspoon of mint extract (for the tea). Even better than at the barista!

This is a great little carafe. I was looking for a low profile insulated pot for my tea. This holds enough for 3 good sized cups and stays hot! Actually, I poured out some leftovers about 24 hrs after making & it was still lukewarm. Very attractive and functional!

Very comfortable to use and nice looking but doesn’t keep hot drinks hot for long enough (more than 3 hours).

We bought this for our RV.PROS:Looks good and seems sell constructed.Our plastic Melitta drip coffee filter (Size #4) fits over it perfectly. The base of our filter cone has a lip though... I used a Dremel to grind out a slot which fits over the handle of this pot. It keeps the filter housing from slipping. If your cone is the flat base type it could easily slip off the top of this though, so you might have to get creative with sticky foam, dabs of glue or similar to create a channel to fit over the handles and spout of this pot.We tested this twice. No evidence of the weird smell that many reviewers here have commented on.CONS:After a few hours, the contents were noticeably cooler although still warm enough for our purposes.
