Contigo HuronTravel Mug Screw Cap Stainless Steel Drinking Cup

These are my all time favorite coffee mugs. They dont spill, and they are really easy to customize because the surface is not curved at all like a lot of other coffee travel mugs. The mouth is wide and I can fit my whole hand in there to scrub everything, which is amazing and makes it extrmely easy to clean. They are pretty durable, too! I work at a mine site, and these things can take a BEATING! The only one that ever actually broke the lid was because I accidentally dropped it off several flights of stairs onto concrete. They have survived me forgetting they were on the back of my flatbed, even. I like to scuff them up, and then spray paint, hydrodip, or sticker-bomb them. They keep heat in for a very long time! I have had RTIC, Yeti, and Stanley travel mugs, and these do just as well for a fraction of the price! I have bought so many of these, and I plan to continue to.

Great quality. Sealed tightly. I ordered this for my husband so he can drink his coffee on the way to work and he loved it. Keeps the coffee nice and hot! Easy to clean, came just as advertised

I don’t use my thermos very often, but when I do use it this does an amazing job of keeping my drink warm. It was really cheap, and I’m so glad I bought it!

So far so good, the size is good, it feels sturdy, easy to clean, my tea has been hot for more than 5 hours, thats impressive for me considering my previous experience with coffee mugs. It's a great mug. Stability yes! Insulation yes. I will update on durability.

TRUE TEST OF QUALITY I took four very different price points of stainless steel water bottles all which say that they are 304 stainless and ran them through what I consider a fairly scientific test of their quality. I washed the bottles thoroughly with standard dish soap. Then I rinse them thoroughly with standard tapwater. And then I rinse them. With reverse osmosis, filtered water. Lastly, I sanitize them with near boiling reverse osmosis water that came directly from the hot water, reverse osmosis output. Once the bottles were all clean, I added room temperature reverse osmosis water to all of the bottles. I left about an inch of room at the top of each bottle to make sure that the top did not touch the water and affect the test. Then I put the bottles aside and let them sit for an entire week. One week later, I came back with clean glass cups that were rinsed and sanitized with reverse osmosis water. I filled each cup with the same amount of water from the four bottles labeled the bottom bottoms and then randomized the water cups. I first did a taste test, trying to figure out if any of them tasted metallic, or if I had any other flavors that were in the water that I could notice and I sorted them by taste. Amazingly my taste buds did not match the scientific TDS meter but I think it was because there may have been a hint of the fragrance of the dish soap that may have not completely come off the plastic tops of the Contigo and Klean Kanteen. So for taste, this was my subjective ranking of the water from the bottles from best to worst. 1. Triple Tree (8 TDS) 2. Amazon Special (3 TDS) 3. Kleen Kanteen (2 TDS) 4. Contigo (6 TDS) As you can see, my taste buds are not quite as scientific as I thought they were, because I did not rank them in order of TDS, which is total dissolved solids within the water. But what I do think I tasted was perhaps a little soap residue that may have not been fully cleaned off of the plastic tops of the bottles for the Contigo and Klean Kanteen. The Klean Kanteen does do something very interesting in that. It actually has a stainless steel layer on the inside of the plastic top so you get the best of both worlds. The Contigo is a drinking cup not a bottle that actually has plastic all throughout the top and the other two bottles are almost 100% steel outside of the silicone ring that allows you to get a water tight seal. You can do a very quick test on any stainless steel water bottle that claims to be 304 stainless which is the top quality that you’re going to get on food grade stainless. All you need to do is grab a magnet of any size or shape preferably a hard small magnet that is fairly strong and if it sticks to the metal, it is not pure non-magnetic 304 stainless. Now there is a chance that it is 304 stainless, even though you get some small amount of magnetism if the manufacturing of the steel actually changed the material structurally as it was formed from a single piece of metal. But if you do find a stainless steel model and make sure that it’s not plastic lined aluminum like the old Sigg bottles. If a magnet does not stick at all, it is likely that you have a high grade stain stainless steel bottle. The last thing to look out for is that on a insulated bottle like here the Contigo or the Klean Kanteen, they will save some cost by using a lower grade stainless steel on the outside of the cup even though the inside of the cup is pure 304 stainless steel. That just means that your magnet might actually stick very strongly to the outside of the cup/bottle and not stick at all to the inside. As a conclusion for the test, what I would say is that Klean Kanteen wins the race of the cleanest water bottle that money can buy but for a fraction of the cost a Amazon special can actually come close and beat out even a Contigo or a triple tree for a high-quality stainless steel water bottle that doesn’t even have a stamp of being 304 stainless on it because the stamp would actually cost more money and just increase your price so you’re truly getting the most bare bones quality steel container that money can buy in what I believe is the Amazon special and what I would say is the winner for value of all of these tests. For me, I think I am going to go with the Amazon special. I can get eight bottles for around $30. To do that with a Klean Kanteen I am looking at probably a $200 to do the same. Remember, always keep your water bottles clean don’t grow bacteria in them sanitize them with boiling water if you can on occasion, but be very careful because the outside of a stainless steel bottle will be exactly the same temperature as the inside and you will burn your hands if you are not wearing heat proof gloves. And the last note I will share is if you’re not putting pure reverse osmosis water in your water bottle be very careful because it will have chemicals and bacteria and your water will go bad and should not be consumed if it is left in your bottle for any period of time. If you are doing the worst thing that I think you can do in using tapwater remember “Fill your bottle. Drink it right away! Clean out your bottle EVERYDAY!!!”

I am a long time Contigo customer. Many years ago, I bought my first mug with an AUTOSEAL lid. I've had a couple since my first. About five+ years ago, I bought a Contigo Pinnacle from Costco. With each model, Contigo's been improving its AUTOSEAL lid. My last two mugs were 16 oz. For me they were the best insulated travel mugs available in the U.S. However, I've had two complaints: 1) the AUTOSEAL lids were difficult to clean (although the Pinnacle was an improvement), and 2) the height of the 16 oz mugs without the lid were are too tall to place under a Keurig machine, or my commercial coffee machine at work. I just received the Byron 2.0. It's perfect. For anyone interested, it measures 6 7/8 inches (17.4625 cm) tall without the lid. It's a wider than my previous models so it still holds 16 oz, yet still easily fits into my car's cup holders. Big improvement to the new lid, too. It's now very simple and is ridiculously easy to clean. No more springs or complicated internal mechanisms. It's still leak proof and easy to drink from without spills on the go. It's comfortable to hold and comes in lots of colors. Well-engineered, and for me, the best travel mug yet! Thank you Contigo.

Contigo makes excellent tumblers and this one is no different. It keeps my coffee hot for about 5 hours and is made solid. I own 28 name brand tumblers and my Contigo tumblers are all top 10.

It keeps my coffee hot a good long time, and the outside stays nice and cool. I would like to give it 5 stars, really. But.... Details I like. The surface has just a little bit of texture. It really does help hold the cup if your hands are wet. Also, the exterior stays cool while your coffee stays hot. Naturally, it would keep cool things cool as well. The lid is a complex casting, and came out clean and sharp. The inside of the lid is quite shiny, which means a lot of care was taken by the mold maker. It doesn't say what kind of plastic it is, but from the looks of it I would guess a glass filled nylon. Glass filling the plastic improves rigidity and durability. The downside is that it wears on the molds moreso than unfilled plastic. More cost for the manufacturer. The latch on the lid is quite tight. It does break in some. Even after a few weeks of use, it still has a substantial snap to it, both opening and closing. This makes closing it quite positive. It also helps make sure that it doesn't leak. From the lid, at least. Since we're on the lid, I like the way it seals the lid. It has what appears to be a silicone nipple that seals the opening quite well. If it really is silicone, it should last a good, long time. The cup itself is sheet stainless, rolled and welded with stamped bottom "cup" that is welded to the outer shell. The inner liner is also stainless and appears to be a deep draw stamping. Deep draw stamping is hard on tooling. Especially when using stainless. Also, all the welds are very clean. I would have a to guess it's laser welded by a CNC machine, so the welds should last quite well. The stainless steel this is stamped out of is fairly thin, but the shape, and the the inner liner being welded to the outer shell give it good rigidity and solidity. The bad. The threads on the cup are what appears to be a roll press. It's a fine method to produce threads on a stamping. Unless it needs to seal up tightly. Unfortunately, this way of manufacturing isn't nearly as precise as the other steps in making this cup. What that means is that the threads may be just a bit higher or lower on each cup. This may cause the sealing surface of some cups to be tighter, or looser, than others. This is, I think, where the dribblong is coming from. The other down side to rolled threading is that the lid occassionally tries to cross thread itself onto the cup. That can damage the threads molded into the plastic, eventually causing the lid to fit even worse. Making it more likely to leak. It really is quite a good value. Especially when you consider the manufacturing processes used are hard on tooling, which is quite costly to replace. Better than some I've used, but leak proof? Yeah, nope. If, when full, you tip it a bit too far it is prone to dribbling. Not a huge gusher, but if you happen to be wearing white, yeah, you're screwed. Given the balance between the high quality materials and most of the manufacturing processes, I would give it 5 starts. Except for the dribbling. Still, I'd like to give it 3.5 stars, really. But Amazon won't let you. Since so many who use these are going to work, and the possibility of staining your clothes is real, it has to be 3 stars.

Keeps hot water freshly hot.

I purchased this mug based on positive reviews and I was not disappointed. It keeps my coffee hot for hours and I love the sleek, classic style and superior quality craftsmanship. It fits comfortably in my hand and is not heavy despite the fact it holds 20 ounces. The lid is easy to use and doesn't drip. It also comes with clear care and cleaning instructions. A winner!

Esta taza de viaje es fantástica. Mantiene los líquidos calientes o fríos durante horas. Lamentablemente, compré otras dos tazas Contigo el mismo día y tienen un aislamiento deficiente. Al llenarlas con líquido caliente, el exterior de la taza está muy caliente. La taza rosa es de muy buena calidad y las otras dos son inservibles.
