One word for this.... Beautiful!
I am so happy to have received this breakfast bar. It came exactly as Amazon said it would, the delivery guys were very nice and brought it directly into our house, since we are both seniors and the three packages this unit came in are very heavy for us.We unpacked the parts, carefully and found them to be in perfect condition. Now to put it together, which, by reading other reviewers and looking at the directions seem to be easy to do. We can't wait to put this into our kitchen, replacing our old table. It will make our kitchen look beautiful and up-to-date.Update, March 8,2023We got the unit all together except for the drop leaf and one drawer. I do not know why other reviews said it took them only 2 hours, for it took us much longer and we are mechanically inclined. We had one trouble with a screw and its anchor, which we had to modify. We also found we couldn't put in one of the drawers because several screws were missing so the railing, on the bottom of the drawer was not fully attached. We had to look for our own screws for this. There is a bubble on the top of the unit and at one edge the finish was darker, near the end. I used black, permanent marker to color all the tags so they wouldn't show, because they were just too hard and too many to take off. They were really stuck on.Finally, after all was said and done, we discovered the drop leaf was not included when the unit arrived? How could quality control miss this? Now we have to wait another four days to receive it. Lisa, from customer service, was very nice and ordered a new one for us. I sure hope she remembers to order the screws to attach it, because those didn't come either. When we finally get the thing completely finished, we will be happy because it is a nice unit, sturdy and looks great in our kitchen. Will update when everything is finally in place.

Size, quality, and materials are great
Now that it is assembled, I love this island. It is about the largest one I found that could still fit through a standard door. It looks and feels very elegant, and the extra storage space was just what I needed. After reading a number of reviews that said it was easy to assemble, I decided to order since I've put together a number of Ikea and similar furniture kits over the years. However, my experience was very different - the pieces are so heavy that my husband and I were not able to handle it ourselves; in fact, we broke one of the main pieces during our efforts. I must say the company was extremely accommodating and sent a replacement part right away. At that point, though, we decided to hire a handyman to do the assembly. It took over 3 hours, but now we have a beautiful addition to our kitchen. Our experienced guy cut varied sizes of packing foam to fit under the pieces to lift them to the right height to provide support while he attached the side pieces to the base. It would have helped if we had thought of that! Even allowing for the cost of the assembly, the piece still is an overall good value for the quality and we are very happy.

Solid Kitchen Island. Has stood the test of time.
We have had this island in our kitchen for five years. We recommend it! When it arrived in a flat box, we wondered if it was a piece of junk. It takes two people to fit the parts together, and they are held in position with little haft-turn plastic thingys. But the more pieces that fit in place, the more solid it became. When finished, it is rock solid! It has two doors to storage underneath with a shelf. One side has two drawers on top, the other side of the top is folded down and flips up to add more work space. The top itself is solid wood with beautifu, clear, waterproof finish. We take care of the top, meaning we don’t slide metal pots and pans across it, but everything else goes on it, from cutting boards to plastic mixing bowls. No scratches after five years. THIS WAS A WORTHWHILE PURCHASE !

Would give 5 stars except...
The Box had two large puncture wounds that went right through the styrofoam, but luckily that did not affect the Finish or any unfixable damage. What they did show was that the box was quite manhandled and is probably the reason why the runner for the one drawer was broken off and the right side door doesn't line up unless you lift the door as you close it. Luckily my husband is quite handy and was able to repair both issues. Overall it's beautiful and solid and has fantastic deep shelves. The only other disappointment was that the doors are kind of narrow so, although many items can be put into the shelves, if it's a little bit wide, like my Dutch oven which I hope to put in there, it's not going to fit in the door

Beautiful and the installation was easy
WOW - exactly as represented.I received 3 boxes, totaling about 200 pounds. I opened the first and found a sheet with "WHAT IS IN THIS CARTON". AND, each piece had a sticker with an alpha character corresponding to both that manifest and the instructions. I was ecstatic. I have struggled through assemblies going back and forth about which piece was which. All was VERY clear.I am 58, 5'8, female, good upper body strength but coming off a bout of tennis elbow. I took things slow and had to get a little creative with a few chairs and boards to keep everything aligned as I went along. Most of the pieces are fairly heavy. I had the base less shelves and doors done in an hour and 15 minutes. With a helper, I imagine that time would be halved. The only alignment issue I had was with the screw holes for 1 hinge for the eating "leaf". One hinge's holes were so far off that I had to drill new. Not a big deal and far easier than other areas had there been issues.I worried a bit about setting the top - the top is in one piece plus the added eating "leaf", but because of how all fits together, I was able to stand the top along the short end of the base - lift and slide...NO problem.I find all of the material to be solid, of much better quality than I expected for the price ...honestly, if I'd paid twice the price, I would still think it a good value - it looks like the photos and I am so very happy! My blog post featuring assembly and finished. beardogco dot com / theroadhome (no spaces, etc.)
