Seals, vacuums immediately, stays sealed.
These work beautifully. Seriously, if you've been struggling with the blue valve bags, taking 10 minutes for them to start vacuuming out the air, this will be a total relief for you. As soon as I put the vac device on the valve of the FoodSaver bag, it began removing all the air. Went back a few hours later and hard as a rock frozen in the freezer, no leaks. Plus, it has pleats for larger or liquid preservation. I'm all for getting a bargain, but sweating over "will this bag ever seal?" is not part of the bargain.

Yes, these DO hold their seal in the freezer!
These, work perfectly if you remember to do a few simple things: 1. Wrap moist food lightly in plastic wrap, cling wrap or press N seal. If freezing, freeze liquids like sauces in flat containers (like lock n lock), remove when frozen and wrap, or place into a regular zip bag with the zipper cut off, then put into the foodsaver bag. This enables you to reuse the foodsaver bag later. 2. Press some of the air out of the bag. Press the zip strip firmly on a hard surface two or three times. Use the back of a butter knife or spoon to ensure the bag is tightly sealed. 3. Place the sealer firmly over the vacuum hole. Start the vacuum process and twist/wiggle the sealer a tiny bit to ensure a good seal. For added security, place a small piece of freezer tape over the hole. The manufacturer said these bags were "not recommended" for the freezer because they "might" not hold the seal. I tested this... THEY DO HOLD, if you seal them correctly. I make portions of meats and cheese for sandwiches, fruit, vegetables, and other items and wanted to be able to remove a portion and reseal the bag and return it to the freezer. These re-sealable bags are perfect for that. Remember though, for use in freezer or refrigerator, you must blanch vegetables before sealing. Especially broccoli which gives off gasses when sealed fresh, Read the manual ( I know, I usually don't either) but this manual has important information and no one wants to take a chance and either waste food or worse, get sick. To freeze fruits, wash, dry, peel, slice and freeze on cookie sheets first. Place in zipper bag then into the foodsaver bag. Take out what you need and reseal. For long term storage use the regular foodsaver bags or rolls. Obviously these are terrific for non freezer and non refrigerator storage too. All your pantry items will stay fresh seemingly forever. Like me, you will wonder how you ever lived without this system and these bags.

So happy that I stumbled onto this product, use it for everything that I can! Husband and son love it also!
I actually bought these on a whim because I wanted to send my Dad some cookies and wanted them vacuum sealed. My parents have one of the large expensive sealers and although I have actually thought about purchasing one, I didnt want to spend that kind of money at that time. So I looked for a cheaper one and stumbled crossed the Food saver hand held. Amazon is usually really good about returns so I figured I would give it a try, I was honestly skeptical because of the price. I LOVE THIS THING! I use them for storing dry items as well as freezing. These larger bags are perfect for breads and chips. I used to put bread in the refrigerator which I know actually kills the freshness but it kept much longer than in the cabinet. Now, I can vacuum seal the bread and keep in in the cabinet for weeks, the bag holds its seal very well and the bread goes without molding and stays soft. Chips stay fresh and don't get stale. Then of course we use it for freezing meats and fruits, basically anything that can be frozen, keeps from freezer burning. You might think for dry goods that re-vacuuming every time you take it out and put it back, would be a pain but its not at all, very fast. if you squeeze out most of the air before you close it of course it is much faster. I have attached a simple video clip about how it works in the case that anyone is wondering... So it turns out now that I would take this over the expensive one any day. I would think that these are more re-useable than the larger machines. I reuse the bags multiple times. If it is bread, chips or something that already has its own bag, I usually just leave it in there and put all of it into the foodsaver bag. This way the Foodsaver bag doesn't really come into direct contact with the food and is easier to clean/reuse. If its Chicken, meat or something with bacteria, we mark the bag as such so that when we wash and reuse, we don't place anything different in that bag. I usually just fill them with hot soapy water, close it up and let is soak over night or so. We have had a couple bad bags in the bunch which is probably to be expected but I just use them for something that doesn't need a vacuum seal. Love love this product and am so happy that I stumbled onto it!

Great for Bulk Food Storage and Keeping Freezer Burn Away
I’ve been using these FoodSaver 1‑Gallon Vacuum Zipper Bags for storing bulk groceries and leftovers, and they’ve been a great addition to my food storage setup. If you already use a FoodSaver vacuum system, these bags make it quick and convenient to seal and reseal foods without cutting and heat‑sealing traditional vacuum bags. What I Like Reusable and durable The bags feel thicker than regular zipper bags and hold up well to repeated use. They’re designed to keep air and moisture out, which helps prevent freezer burn and keeps food fresher longer. Great for frequently accessed foods These are ideal for things like cheese, deli meats, vegetables, snacks, or bulk items you plan to open and reseal multiple times. The zipper closure makes it easy to reseal without needing to cut a new bag every time. Easy to fill The gallon size gives plenty of room for storing larger portions, and the flat bottom design helps them stand up while filling. Things to Be Aware Of Works best with the handheld vacuum attachment To get the full vacuum effect, you’ll need a FoodSaver sealer with the accessory hose or handheld attachment. Not ideal for every reuse scenario While the bags are reusable, it’s best to avoid reusing them for raw meat storage for food safety reasons unless you discard them afterward. Final Thoughts Overall, these are a convenient alternative to traditional vacuum seal rolls, especially for foods you open and reseal often. They’re durable, easy to use, and help extend the life of food in the fridge or freezer. If you use a FoodSaver system regularly, these gallon zipper bags are definitely worth keeping on hand.

Good quality bags when sealed well retain vacuum
Good quality bags, durable, thick and good value for the money. I typically use them for one food item, I may reuse a bag for the same or similar food item. I have found that they hold their vacuum quite well preserving food and preventing Freezer burn
