Each capsule contains: betaine HCL 520 mg; pure pepsin (1:15,000 potency, lactose free) (porcine) 21 mg; ascorbyl palmitate (fat soluble vitamin C) 10 mg.

Does this product help the digestion of proteins, carbs and fats or is it just for some foods?

Betaine HCL might improve your digestive function by raising the pH in your stomach; assuming you suspect that you are having digestive problems due to low stomach acid. Combined with pepsin this supplement will primarily help in your digestion of protein, and might also assist with the digestion of certain minerals such as zinc. You might want to take a balanced digestive enzyme if you also need help with digesting carbohydrates and fat. Many higher quality digestive enzymes will contain Betaine HCL along with digestive enzymes for protein, fat, and carbohydrates.

Does this contain any calcium? I know betain is derived from beets, which are high in calcium. I am on a calcium restricted diet, so need to be sure.
