Q: There is no mention of organic anywhere on the towel and it has a chemical smell to it. was it coated at all during manufacturing with stabilizers?

I also ordered this towel and it had a horrible smell infused into the towel itself. It was like some kind of sharp perfume odor, very strong. It's possible that the towels were exposed to fumigants in overseas transport as this is often a problem. Fumigants are sprayed frequently within storage areas and containers on cargo ships and are sprayed as pest, vermin, and microbial repellent. These chemicals are very toxic and any items one receives with such odors should be thoroughly washed in castile soap with baking soda and/or boric acid and also soaked in vinegar by itself for an extended time first. (vinegar does not mix well with castile soap and with baking soda they each cancel the other out, the baking soda neutralizes the vinegar so use separately). I would soak in these detergents for an extended time and agitate them first. The seller of this item should look further into this aspect of the importation of the product and perhaps use a different shipping cargo carrier service. Q: How small can this towel be folded for packing/travel?

If you fold it and put on the table for example, dimensions would be approx 10"x9"x1". If you squeeze and put it to the bag dimensions would be even smaller. It weights ~270 grams.
