Will not fine wire mesh
I bought this unit hoping to determine if my 4" concrete garage slab has wire mesh installed in it. If you follow the directions and calibrate the finder in open air and then proceed to use it on the concrete slab it says their is ferrous metal throughout. The results seemed inaccurate so I did what the directions say and then calibrated it on the surface to be tested but "away" from any metal. I did this but their is no way to recalibrate it away from ferrous metal if you dont know where OR IF their is any ferrous metal. I then proceded to test a 12" x 12" x 3" landscape block. Again calibrate it in air and then onto the landscape block (which I suspended in air on a clean piece of wood) and once again it said the block had ferreous metal in it which I know it does not because I broke one open. I then recalibrated the unit on the landscape block and it now shows non ferrous metal in various spots. I then held a 1/2" rebar beneath the block and it showed the bar but a full one inch deeper than it really was. Long story short is this unit will not detect if a concrete floor slab has wire mesh installed in it (not rebar). I am only looking to determine if wire mesh is present and not a specific location (depth or otherwise). I would like to return the unit but I used it as noted above. For what it costs this unit gave no better a result than a cheap stud/wire/metal finder for $25 bucks, that I also bought and tried..

you need to practice
I used this to find the tension cables in my house foundation. But you need to understand how to use this device and there are videos on youtube you need to watch. Takes a bit of practice. The idea is to find the beginning point and end point of detection, then the middle between is the cable location. Its not like cable/nocable. The reason is the deeper the cable the more faint the detection. Also its a good idea to calibrate the device after you place it on the ground where you are going to detect.

Accurate.
I bought this as a new home inspector after seeing blogs from others in my trade who recommended it. First few uses and it performs extremely well so far.

Pipe finder metal detector
It has a bit of a problem going through concrete and ceramic tile but it works I just need to know where I have to drill holes through the side of my slab to get new water lines into my house
