Wasn't Sure...but its Excellent!
Given some of the review comments, I wasn't sure if I would like this but... it's excellent! Used it for quiche crust. Wonderfully flaky pie pastry type crust, less shrinkage during baking, stiff enough to hold hold up the edge when sliced but tender and light, nice golden color - not smelly. Note I used 2 Tbsp this leaf lard with 8 Tbsp classic (not high fat) butter - it may be key to use this lard with butter?. Better outcome than all-butter-crust. Will buy and use again.

Making pies?
I love this for pie crust. You only need a little. I use a little less butter and a bit of lard and they turn out great.

Worth the purchase!!
This is a great addition to my baking must-haves! I don’t use butter and I’ve been looking for a good alternative for a while. I was hesitant to towards using lard because of the porky flavor and smell but this leaf lard turned out to be better than I expected. The smell is light, the texture is smooth and it easily incorporates into my baking recipes. I also find that I don’t need to use near as much leaf lard as I would butter. My final products are always moist and delicious! This is a great product and I’m so happy I found it!

If you want a lard this will not disappoint. Lovely in sandwich rolls and purchased for making organic tamales. Excited to make organic tortillas and tamales. This is going to be yummy

Delicious healthy alternative to Crisco!!
Fantastic product! I use this anytime I’m baking and it calls for Crisco or vegetable shortening.

GOOD PRODUCT BUT NOT THE SMELL
When I was a child we rendered our pork fat for the lard. I love cooking with it. But I just couldn't get arond the aroma of this lard - and yes, others have posted it is more pleasant to smell. Taste is great. And I hate giving less than stellar review, but for me it just won't work. This is nothing against the product, nor the company. It's simply that my sniffer does not dance well with this product.

Clean, Light and I Love It!!!
To me this has a clean flavor unlike most beef tallow I’ve tried. I love butter on foods but I fry everything with a tablespoon or so of this. I’ve lost count of the 3 packs I’ve ordered. I see no reason to try anything else as long as it’s available here…
