Unseen (with bonus novella "Busted"): A Novel (Will Trent Book 7)

Insanely Intense, graphic, hypnotic...Suspense at its best!
As usual, Slaughter wastes no time diving right into the deep end - and dragging me with her! The chaos begins right away in Chapter one - my heart is already breaking, racing out of my chest. Stepping inside one of these books is like stepping on to the train tracks, with the train racing straight at you. It's insanely intense, graphic, and yet totally mesmerizing, hypnotic. Even with the train running you down, you can not look away or get out of the way. Will, Sara, Faith, Amanda, Lena, as well as some other familiar and also new characters are all caught up in a Perfect Storm - the kind that surrounds you on all sides and pounds you over & over, on and on, leaving devastation and destruction in its wake. All hell breaks loose. Lives are irrevocably changed, family members are buried and still no one can figure out who's running the show. There's so many layers to this story - just when you think you might have a handle on it, something changes and another piece of the puzzle drops into place.Unseen is shocking & intense, as revelations are revealed. There are strange moments of kindness between some odd bedfellows, and there are moments of unforgivable betrayals and unbelievable cruelty delved out at the hands of a monster. Who is Mr. Whitey? What kind of cruel game is he playing? Who brought this horrible devastation down on them? Who will survive it?!In my opinion, some of the best, life altering scenes of the series occur in Unseen: Lena & Sara - OMG! It's been a long time coming! Will & Sara - Wow...left me speechless & hurt my heart while others made me smile - nothing comes easy for this couple! Lena & Jared - heartbreaking, what in the world happened? Before I finished this story, a few characters really stepped up to surprise me - a few hatchets are buried, a little forgiveness is offered, and some declarations of love are made. The only thing I could find wrong with this book is that now I have to wait for the next release in the series. Unseen goes on my Favorites shelf. A Page Burner. A Must Read. This series ranks in my top 5 series of all time. It touches me in so many different ways.

4.5 Stars!
Unseen takes us back to Sara's past. Lena Adams reenters the picture with a big bang! These two women have never liked each other and with a good reason. Sara still holds Lena responsible for the events occurring in Beyond Reach.Lena lives in Macon. She's now married to Jared Long, Jeffrey's son. She's doing great at her job and she's the lead in a new investigation. She's working with a snitch before taking down a big fish when everything goes wrong. This prompts an investigation by Internal Affairs. Then, Jared gets gunned down at their home and is fighting for his life.Nell, Jared's mom calls Sara for support. Sara is furious with Lena because once again someone's life is in danger because of her.As for Will, he goes undercover as Bill Black to Macon, Georgia. He's in the middle of the case gone wrong and his life is very much in danger too.I felt bad for Will. He was in a tough spot. He was undercover and had to hide things from Sara. He knew this could lead to him losing her. After all, she had already lost someone when placed in a dangerous situation by Lena. Yet, he couldn't walk away either."You can tell me to go, but I won't. I'll sleep in my car outside your house. I'll follow you to work. To the gym. If you go out to dinner, I'll be at the next table. If you go to a movie, I'll be in the row behind you."As always, Sara was great in Unseen. She was there for Will when he needed it the most. She supported Jared's family. She helped whoever needed it. Yes, she was mean to Lena once but then Lena returned the favor in spades.“Now you know how it feels.”Ugh Lena, can you keep your mouth shut for one second? It's like she's incapable of behaving. I mean the woman has improved. She's a good detective or at least her team thinks so. She's trying to work things out with Jared, her husband. She's trying to follow her superior's commands but she's unable to behave in front of Sara. Twice she was awful to her, once with her words and once with her thoughts.“Sara Linton’s sixty-five-thousand-dollar BMW had been turned into the world’s most expensive Rubik’s Cube.”I think she just envies Sara too much. Anyway, that's my two cents about Lena. I'm sure we haven't seen the end of her in this series.Overall, I think Unseen is yet another great addition to the Will Trent series.Cliffhanger: No4.5/5 Fangs

Thriller
Well, I read this book a few years ago and have just re-read it. I think I know why I stopped reading the Will Trent series for a while because the author, who writes a wonderful thriller, has gone on too long about the relationship between Will Trend and Sara Linton....enough already. Let them settle down happily and let there be no more ups and downs. Also, am fed up with Will's wife popping up - no more! This book is a very good read otherwise.

A thrilling, cracking read. Don't miss it!
I'm a great fan of Karin Slaughter's Grant County and its spin off Will Trent series and I was looking forward to the next instalment. Once again, Slaughter does not disappoint. There is no slow starts as the book kicks off with violence and mayhem as you would expect. Lena Adams (Sara's deceased husband Jeffrey's partner) and her husband Jared (Jeffrey's son) are violently attacked in their home. Jared is shot and dying and Lena is trying her best to keep the attackers from killing her too. As she's about to finish off with one attacker using a claw hammer (the book is very graphic and detailed) Will steps through the door and stops her. And so begins the roller coaster ride with Will working undercover as Bill Black and Sara is unknowingly brought into the centre of his investigation when she rushes to Macon to support Jared and his mother Dell. There are many twists in the storyline and there is the heart wrenching possibility of a breakup between the quiet Will and the very lonely Sarah. Even Lena's character evolves and we get to see a softer side of her. As always the villains in this book are truly evil and the underlying issues are topical being drug abuse and child abduction. The book moves along at a very fast pace and the as always, it leaves you guessing until the very last page. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and cannot wait for the next instalment.

ANOTHER GREAT EDITION TO THE SERIES
being a fan of a series of books involving the same characters by an author can eventually become a bit like going through the motions.they tend to either stay the same (don't disappoint but don't surprise you) or go down hill and become annoying/boring (patricia cornwall anyone?)so karin slaughter has been one of my favourite writers as the characters and situations stay familiar and likable but change and grow with each turn of events the book brings.UNSEEN is my favourite novel in a while.it grips immediately and keeps the twists and action (both physical and emotional) coming .ive always had a soft spot for anti-hero Lena Adams and this, without spoiling anything, will bring fans of her troubled character a sense of closure which i liked.if your'e fan you won't be disappointed.if your new to Karin Slaughter - where have you been?! buy the first book BLINDSIGHTED and get reading!

Compelling
As you would expect from Karin, the baddest of baddies, the most gruesome and loathsome of situations, the fiercest, wise and ethical of law defenders. I loved the reintroduction of Sara and Lena. Not so keen on the unnecessary slushiness of Will and Sara's deep romantic ponderings. As if a man in such a dangerous situation, and in so much pain, would be soul searching on how to placate his highly strung girlfriend! Another great addition to the series.

Great read
Another great story written by Karin Slaughter. I love the way the author keeps all the main characters --- William, Sarah, Faith and Lena --- on an even keel; each of them have been to hell and back and lived to tell the tale. Looking forward to reading Book 8.

Good stuff
Another strong performance from Karin Slaughter. Excellent plotting - nothing can ever be taken for granted with her, which is just right - tension high when it needs to be, skilfully drawn. You probably need to have read the earlier books to work out what's going on between the main characters. Less sure-footed on the romantic side of the fence (though perhaps for many readers that's a distraction!), however - I feel like shouting "just get on with it!" A couple of editing glitsches, I thought (Will appears in a room when on the previous page he'd stayed outside). But overall a highly enjoyable read.

My favourite so far
Karin Slaughter's books are always so full of suspense and and intriguing and this one doesn't disappoint. I love the character development of Will Trent through the series and think that this book links in so well with all of it. I've just finished reading it for the 3rd time and still found myself being surprised by the twists. I agree with some of the reviews that it's possible for the reader to work out who 'big whitey' is...but not until it's nearly the end. If the reader has worked out who it is then I think this only adds further suspense if they figure it out before the characters.Definitely one of my favourites of this series so far!

Love, Love, Love LOVE IT!!!
I chose this rating because I think this book deserves it, as all through out the Wil Trent saga;s KArin SLaughter has kept him and his story lines consistent, thrilling and intense. How this woman can think up these story lines and execute such a gripping tale book after book is just great! Don't get me wrong, I could think of a million other places to live other than Atlanta, as there is so many unspeakable crimes (fictional in the book, but being murder capital of the world I wouldn't put it past the place!!!) If you havn't read any of Slaughters books, I urge you to start from the beginning 'Blindsighted'. If you think you like Martina Cole, she aint got a patch on this woman. I was recommended this author from my local library, and usually I read chicklit, soft comedy Bridget jones type stuff, this was a shocking but refreshing change and you can't help but fall in love with the character, feel their pain, rejoice in their joy and play the book out in your head. Its not often you find books like these. Read them!

Will Trent and Lena Adams - 2 of my favourite characters
I enjoyed reading about Lena Adams again - a woman who appears superficially tough but is actually vulnerable and caring. Will Trent is a fascinating man, very troubled by his disadvantaged past. I have more empathy with Lena than I do with Sara Linton, who can sometimes be a bit too much of a goody goody. The book moved on apace and I was reluctant to put it down when I had to. The only thing I disliked about it was the movement from present to past and back again several times.I thoroughly recommend this book, but it would probably make more sense to those who've read at least one preceding book in the series.

Better
I've not been a big Will Trent fan and I particularly dislike Amanda Wagner's character but this book blended together the whole bunch of characters from the earlier Linton/Tolliver books. The story was really interesting and the to-ing and fro-ing in the timeline was a good move. There was suspense throughout the story that kept me glued to the Kindle. Although the ending made me feel this might be the last in this series, I really hope not as I've grown fonder of Will and Lena and want to know how their lives with their partners go on.

Keeps you guessing....
Really enjoyed this book, and am huge fan of the Will Trent and Doctor Sara series! Obviously more to it than just that, but this time the plot really keeps you guessing, and I found this book really hard to put down and was sorry when I finished it! All the notable characters are there, with surprises and unexpected twists and turns. Well thought out, (but am I the only person that finds Amercan language so different and old fashioned?) This is one of the few trans-Atlantic crime authors I really enjoy. Well paced and a good page turner. HIGHLY RECCOMMEND!

Compulsive
I have been up all night reading this book as I just couldn't put it down. Lena, a character from previous novels, and her husband, Jared, are attacked at home. Jared is shot and Lena kills one attacker and seriously injures the other. At the same time Will Trent is undercover in Macon where the attack takes place. What unfolds from there is a tale of Jared's recovery, Sara's relationships with Will and Lena and barbarous drug dealers. It is a cleverly plotted novel with a broad sweep and many intertwining plots. Masterful is the word I would use and it is a joy to read.

Enjoyable!
I am a fan of Karin Slaughter and have read everything thats she done. This is the 1st time that I have purchased a new best seller not in hard copy, very good story following on the lives of Sara and Will. If I am honest I think that I begrudge a little paying over £6 for a computer download, not having the hard copy in my hands, seems a bit of a cheat, as Asda were selling the hardback book for £9.99, but it was much easier to take the kindle on holiday though!!

Another first rate story by Karin Slaughter
I really enjoy reading the Will Trent series of books by Karin Slaughter. The personalities of the characters are so well known to me now and this book brought out more detail. The story was exciting and scary and I didn't want to put it down!
