The career retrospective retrograte...
I have to drop a brief review here and make sure folks know that the review that said that "Hell's Ditch" was the Pogues' last album is incorrect. They made 2 other albums, "Waiting For Herb" and "Pogue Mahone", in 1993 and 1996 respectively. Although the band had cut the cancerous heart out of itself at that point (main songwriter & main singer Shane MacGowan), and the quality of the material had become weaker, they were still a band like no other. Any collection should include a track from each.Having said that, most of the songs here are superb... some are not. I for one could do without "Yeah yeah yeah" and "Honky Tonk Women", but "If I should fall..." and others are just superb. I recommend "IF I should fall..." (the full album from 1988) to anyone interested in the Pogues before I'd recommend this collection.I'll also mention that there's nothing wrong with the band's 1984 debut "Red roses for me". Much more poorly produced and ragged than the brilliant albums that followed, it's still worth hearing if you're a fan but haven't heard it.

a must have!
what a band. what an album. If you bought the first collection, then you have to have this. If you didn't well then maybe you need stop reading this and order it, run to someone's house who has it or get yourself a large can of guinness and pretend you have it. Get it and enjoy...

too drunk on this album!
some good songs like Turkish song of the damned are spoiled by being too drunk or stoned. Could have been great...

Barrel-scraping
In the CD age, it's hard to pick the scum from the gems--the first "The Best Of The Pogues" (the one with the orange cover) is a 4 or 5 star affair; wisely it picked the majority of material from the bands first three albums (wisely leaving out the debut "Red Roses For Me") and left out all material from the final two lacklustre albums ("Peace & Love", "Hell's Ditch").On this release, the deed is done; there's a few tunes on here that are worth owning, but those who love the band already have the albums they want--and the covers contained within (the Stones' "Honky Tonk Women", and "Yeah Yeah Yeah") aren't really worth the money you'll spend buying this. For completists only.

Ein absolutes Muss !
So kann es nur die Pogues, Balladen, rockige Beats, ein breites künstlerisches Spektrum in seiner ganzen Vielfalt, Hörgenuss pur, besser geht es nicht !
