This heatsink by nElecGear is fantastic. It is easily the best heatsink available for the PS5 Expanded SSD port. It typically runs 6-8°C cooler than the Sabrent (at system start, 8-16° C cooler in normal operation) and 16-20°C cooler than an SSD with a low rise heatsink and 28-25°C cooler than a heat spreader plate that some SSDs come with. This comes with 2 different thermal pads and is more than enough to cover an entire 2280 M.2 NVME SSD and it also comes with one sided sticky pad to go under the SSD to offer mid card support to prevent swaying or hear warping. Construction: Many state in comments that they removed the copper heat pipe or the heat pipe is aluminum or silver. I can state that this is not correct. THE HEAT PIPE IS COPPER. The heat pipe is copper with a nickel coating which helps the transfer of heat. Nickel looks silver or like aluminum foil... However, you can scratch the nickel off the end of the pipe to expose the copper. THE HEAT PIPE IS COPPER. The performance of the heatsink is well beyond any other heatsink on the market for the PS5. The cost I paid is $29.98 +tax. Value for the money is worth it considering that the SSD will never get above 30° C in the PS5. Are there cheaper solutions, sure.. Sabrent is $20, but it runs at startup 8° C hotter and can get up to 20° C hotter than the ElecGear during operation. Could the ElecGear P5 SSD be cheaper, well they could come down to like $25-$26, but given the cost of copper, the design of the slotted cooling that takes full advantage of the PS5 fan, the high quality thermal pads, the extra SSD mounting screw for SSDs that have different thickness boards, keeping the SSD cooler than any other heatsink on the market at this time, to me it is well worth the $30 I paid for it. I'm using this in combination with the blade version of Adata XPG Gammix S70 2TB 2280 NVME M.2 Gen4x4 PCIe 4.0 SSD. I know a heat spreader comes with the blade, but it doesn't handle the heat as well as skipping the heat spreader and using a real heatsink, which is why I got this ElecGear P5 heatsink for the PS5. Can't recommend it enough.

I had an extra 1TB 980 Pro laying around from a recent PC build that I decided to drop into my brand new PS5 instead of leaving it collecting dust in my parts drawer. I saw this HeatSink featured on the Spawn Wave channel on YouTube and it looked substantial enough to handle the heat a 980 Pro can put out when running full tilt, so I decided to pick this up. Installation was relatively easy, although the clear washers included were difficult to keep on the end of the tiny lockdown screw. In fact, I lost the larger one into the innards of my PS5 when it slipped through that only slot in the bay it could have slipped through. Murphy's Law in action! Didn't matter since the SSD was secured just fine without that extra clear plastic washer. After installation was completed, and I swapped in my Black Side Plates, I setup my PS5 to run all of my PS5 games off my 980 Pro as opposed to the internal SSD because I had read several reviews stating that performance was slightly faster with the 980 Pro for loading game data than the PS5's internal drive. After playing through "Ratchet and Clank: A Rift Apart" twice using the Performance RT setting, I am thoroughly pleased with the drive's performance, with not a hint of throttling due to heat issues. This HeatSink may cost a little more than others, but the additional surface area and fin design can't hurt when trying to keep a high performance M.2 NVMe like a 980 Pro running cool. Highly Recommend!

I am very happy with the cooler. It was very easy to install and fit seamlessly. It also came with thermal paste and a screwdriver. The ssd’s heat up more than you would expect and this cooler does a great job of keeping the temps down. Definitely worth the investment.

Pros: + Easy to install + One of the better cooling solution based on price point (Review from NAS Compares) with the copper heatpipe and larger surface area Cons: - Price compared to other aftermarket heatsinks like the Sabrent PS5 Heatsink - Included thermal pads were pre-cut and only 2 sizes (0.7 mm and 1.5 mm thickness) and not enough of one size to cover an 80 mm NVMe SSD (2280) - Seems to only work on single sided SSDs Review: Unlike some of the newer batches (nickel plated copper heatpipe coating, 2 size of supportive foam), my heatsink had the bare copper heatpipe vs the nickel plated version and only 1 size foam which I purchased last year, and only was able to install it when the WD SN850 2TB SSD came down in price recently. Overall the installation was straight forward. You can use the NVMe spacer/standoff from the PS5 or use the included one to secure the SSD. I did use the included thermal pads at first, but it came in two thicknesses (0.7 mm and 1.5 mm). The 1.5 mm ended being slightly too tall for my liking when applying the heatsink on top of the SSD there was quite a bit of pressure being applied when tightening the screw. There also wasn't enough thermal pads to cover the entire length with either thickness and were also pre-cut which made installation more difficult than it really needs to be. So I ended up purchasing 1.0 mm thick thermal pads from another brand and applying that over the SSD. Pretty satisfied with my purchase so far and thus easing the wear and tear to the non-replaceable internal SSD.

Love these. Overkill cooling in my NVMe drive? YES, please! I've used it more than once.

I bought this when I bought my SSD hard drive for my PS5, and this fits perfectly. Works perfectly too never had an issue with my expanded hard drive or any kind of heat

Good packaging. Hefty heatsink with instructions and apparently good quality material. Snug fit. Total time to install 10 -15 mins. Most important con (vis-a-vis Indians) is that it is a Chinese company product. Another con I would say is that the brand does not presently have an official video showing the installation process. Another , is it appears to be available at an expensive price point in India.

Excellent, ElecGear fait comme à son habitude de très bon produits adaptés et très efficace. Mais, comparé à certaines photos venant de d'autres acheteurs, je n'ai pas reçu la pièce avec la barre de cuivre au milieu. La mienne étant plutôt argenté type aluminium. Peut-être donc qu'elle est moins efficace pour gérer le refroidissement du SSD qui sera installé ? , je ne sais pas vraiment car le cuivre absorbe plus de chaleur alors que l'aluminium la dissipe mieux. Donc je ne suis pas non plus un expert mais le fait qu'elle soit en aluminium me va parfaitement pour ma part car le but recherché est d'évacuer au plus vite la chaleur émise par le SSD rajouté vers le ventilateur de la PS5. Ceci dit, je ne suis pas du tout mécontent de mon achat. L'installation est simple mais prenez le temps de le faire correctement quand vous apposez les pastilles et choisissez bien un SSD compatible avec la PS5. Pour ma part, j'ai mis le WD SNV850 qui est une pure merveille. Vous avez un descriptif détaillé sur le net pour poser correctement le dissipateur avec les pastilles. Le rendu final est beau malgré qu'il soit caché par le cache de la console, il n'en reste pas moins ultra efficace grâce à la largeur du dissipateur qui conduit la chaleur jusqu'au ventilateur de la PS5. Its a very nice item and suits the OG PS5 beautifully. Its just sad that its time to shine is over now, what with the move to PS5 Slims and PS5 Pros, etc. When I get a PS5 Pro I'll move my SSD out of the old girl, so I won't need this anymore. But I'll keep it as a momento of the wonderful cooling this little metal thing provided. Thanks for the good times, heatsink.
