ordered the glowing staff but can't locate the on/off switch!?!

It's at the top of the staff. There's a push on/off button & an on/off switch. Is it possible you got on that doesn't light up at all?

Is this one better than the non-light-up one? As in does the top look better? On the other there was some stickers that looked bad.

The light up one looks amazing, it really has a Disney look to it. It does have button batteries, so they can be expensive to replace. Yep, buy this one, not the sticker one. Cheers.

Can this be put into a book back or easily carried onto a ride when it is in 2 pieces?

It is quite long. It would be poking out the top of a basic book bag/backpack. It is a very good staff though!!!
