Easy for Arthritis Sufferers
Very easy to hook to a can and handle is easy to turn. I have arthritis and turning things can be hard on my hands but this works so easily I have no problems opening multiple cans.

great for arthritic hands
Great and easy to use if you have arthritic hands. You don't have to dig top out of can due to magnetic device that holds it. Lock feature handy also. Oxo products are some of the very best on the market.

Quite useful, but a bit bulky
I have owned three can openers, and I have liked all of them. The OXO can opener is nice, but it has a rather bulky design, that occupies a bit more space than my other can openers.

Opens most cans with ease - the magnetic lid feature is kind of unnecessary and only works about half the time
This can opener can be a little tricky to get started, but once you realize you need to start turning AS you clamp down, it becomes much easier to use. Opens most cans with ease - the magnetic lid feature is kind of unnecessary and only works about half the time. But, I don't have to use a ton of strength to open any can and it's easy to turn....so, 4/5!

Best Can Opener Ever!
Thus can opener can cut right through the new cans of food that have the worst weak metal that bends so other can openers do not work on them. This one is absolutely the best. Will buy again!

More cheap Chinese junk from Oxo
When I got this piece of s--- Oxo opener about 2 months ago, it worked OK and I liked the magnetic lid holder, but I noticed that the cutting wheel was not very sharp. Within a month it refused to pierce any can unless I squeezed the handles very hard and very quickly, requiring an absurd amount of force. The problem is the cheaply-made, rather dull cutting wheel. I can run my finger over it with absolutely no fear of getting cut. I gave up on the Oxo and went back to my old Swing-A-Way opener that must be around 50 years old (because it has "St. Louis 16, Missouri" printed on it, and Zip Codes were introduced in the mid-1960s).The high-carbon steel cutting wheel on this ancient Swing-A-Way is still so much sharper than the Oxo that it easily opens any can the first time, every time. Compared to the Swing-A-Way's heavy, durable, all-steel construction, the Oxo is a cheap, lightweight, plastic piece of Chinese-made junk that didn't last a few months, let alone 50 years. The Swing-A-Way feels 2 or 3 times heftier in the hand vs. the Oxo - it has the solid feel of quality construction and materials. Yeah, the lid falls into the food...big deal. This Oxo opener, on the other hand, has the exact same fatal flaw as the Oxo Smooth Edge Opener - the cheap cutting wheel. The 2 Smooth Edge openers I went through both lasted less than 6 months before THEY went in the trash. And that's where this Oxo's headed next. If I could give it zero stars, I would. Don't waste your money on this or any other Oxo opener. Try to find a vintage Swing-A-Way on eBay or a flea market. It'll be the last opener you'll ever buy.Sad, but true, that something as basic as a quality, well-made, durable can opener is so illusive today. But until we consumers stop buying cheap Chinese junk, that's exactly what manufacturers (or should I say "outsourcers" because that's all they are) will push on us. Oxo's guiding principle, apparently, is to design innovative products with useful features, then outsource them to China, using cheap materials and shoddy construction, and sell them at high prices for a quick buck. Consumers unite - STOP BUYING CHEAP CHINESE JUNK!3/10/16 Update:Because this item failed slightly after Amazon's 30-day return window closed, I complained (loudly) to Oxo. To their credit, the very nice Oxo customer service person Chrissy offered a repair, replacement, or refund. I took the refund, even though I bought it here at Amazon. It took longer than expected for some reason (2 months), but I just got it, so I only had to eat the sales tax. Bravo, Oxo! Now if you can just improve the quality of the product to match the service, I might buy another Oxo.

Magical Lid Holder. Really!
The can opener works exactly as advertised, latching onto a can and grabbing the lid very well. It also turns easily, with Oxo's usual large turning wheel. My 80 year old mother can use it with ease, and she has little hand strength. The window cutout that allows you to see the rim of the can seems gimmicky to me, useful only for people who have trouble aligning and latching a can opener. Otherwise, it's entirely unnecessary. The only thing that keeps me from giving it 5 stars is that the handle is hard plastic. It's got a rough texture, but I don't think it will provide as much wet grip as my previous Oxo opener, which had soft handles.Update - It's been 3 and half years since I bought this and the magnet fell out of it's little holder sometime in the last 2 days. Can't find it anywhere, so I'm ordering another tonight. Having opened 3 cans while looking for the missing magnet, I can't stress what a difference the it makes. All 3 lids needed to fished out of the cans. I had become so accustomed to not having to handle messy lids that the difference was like night and day. Because the hard plastic grip hasn't been an issue, I'm increasing my rating to 5 well-deserved stars. You should buy one and thank me for changing your life. You're welcome.

Pretty good can opener
Opener is not always easy to engage the blade and grip. It has to be opened very wide to guide the blade and still have the gear grip the can. It does not always completely cut the lid ...often a small section of lid remains requiring manual twisting to release the lid. When the cut is not complete, the magnetic lid catch is useless. The big turning knob is easy to grip and turn and the locking feature is good.

Brilliant for Oxo again!
Feels like this takes all the work out of opening a can. Really takes the stress off my hands. There is basically no cut marks along the edge as the cut is so smooth. Easy to use once you know how and the magnet keeps a hold of the lid so we don't have to go fishing around for it. Oxo Good Grips quality can no be beaten.

Fantastic can opener!
I bought this after the 2 can openers we had were horrible at opening cans. They skipped all of the time. After researching several different ones I decided on this one in spite of some bad reviews. I don't know how there can be any bad reviews on this! It came on time and tried it out right away. I absolutely LOVE this can opener! I am 69 yrs old and had no trouble using it first time. I placed it on the lid and gripped the handles and I heard it lock onto the can. The handles are so easy to grip as is the big turning knob. I started turning the knob and it went around the can so easy and slick, just like a hot knife through butter. Once around the can you just press the lock button and the lid easily comes off and is held by the magnet until you release it. I am extremely happy with this purchase! I would definitely recommend this for a manual can opener.
