BEAUTIFUL GUITAR
There are likely to be around 80 billion guitar players at any given moment, but very few of them could put together a record this beautiful. Intimate, crystal clean playing--perhaps even meditative. Early morning, high noon, late in the evening--any time you put this album on--you'll be happy.

Standing the test of time
I was lucky enough to attend a record release party for this album back in '87, when it was available only on vinyl. The cassette came out a few months later. Long since relegated to the dustbin of LPs, "Night Birds" fell off my playlist until I found it on CD. It is just as fresh and wonderful now as it was when Ed played "Duet" live at the Press Room in Portsmouth. Listening to this album, one gets a sense of Ed's artistry, his craftsmanship and, ultimately, the passion driving these forces. There is nothing to interfere between the artist and his instrument: it's just the man and the guitar. Great album, great craftsman, great discography - and it begins with "Night Birds".
