These worked great on my latest trip. They held together with no issues. Buckles are plastic, but did not come apart. Adjustable strap is small enough for a carry on and large enough for a large checked suitcase.

I own a pair of straps that I've had for 4 years now. I can see why people say it's hard to open but honestly, that's exactly what I was looking for. Not to be easy to be vandalized and also add extra support to the zipper when my luggage is packed. I have traveled several times internationally and they've held phenomenal. I plan to buy another set, hopefully they still have the same strength and quality.
