I have used this aloe brand for many years. It is very pure and gentle on my sensitive skin. Helps heal small scratches and rashes and hydrates naturally. No scents and a nice thick non sticky clear salve for skin.

The latest bottle I received now says “NEW NATURAL FRAGRANCE & FRESH NEW FEEL” Since I’m sensitive to fragrances, I was concerned about this new label. I called the company and they said there is no added natural or other fragrance. The reason for the "NEW…” label is that during the Pandemic they could not source the original thickener ingredient, so they had to substitute another thickener that had a slight smell. Now they've gone back to a neutral smell thickener, and their marketing people decided to add a "NEW Natural fragrance..." label to indicate that the customer can expect to only smell the natural aloe smell again (like originally). So I tried it out and indeed it smells like aloe, and maybe a hint of alcohol. I detect no other fragrance smells, and the aloe/alcohol smell dissipates in a few minutes, like my older bottle. So ironically, the “NEW Natural Fragrance” label, though confusing, is actually good news. I hope this review helps out other fragrance sensitive people. Perhaps, some other reviews that have mixed opinions about "smell" are due to the substitute thickener ingredient adding a smell. Just realize that aloe does have a characteristic (natural) smell, which is indeed the smell that comes through with this product.

I have been a fan of Aloe Vera gel for most of my life! I use it from head to toe! While I have tried extracting my own gel from leaves, I have tried many brands over the years. Lily of the Desert is, and will always be my favorite brand! I buy several types of their gel, but I purchase this gel specifically for my skin and hair. I love that it moisturizes, soothes and treats my skin, but it works so well as a scalp treatment! Whether my scalp is overwhelmed by environmental factors, or just dry. This gel soothes and heals my scalp overnight:) I absolutely love this gel! I have allergies and my skin is sensitive. If I get a flare of eczema or dermatitis, this gel soothes the itch and helps my skin heal faster! My only wish is that they made bigger bottles. The pump, and quality of the gel itself, distinguishes Lily of the Desert from other brands! Trust me! It’s so good from head to toe, that it can even be used on curly hair to define curls without build up!

Best aloe Vera gel I’ve found! Sunburn, windburn, daily moisturizer, wound healing, hair care… I use it for nearly everything. The consistency is thicker, but it’s never a sticky or greasy after feel. Great for sensitive acne prone skin. The scent is subtle and pleasant as well. I’ve been using this product for over a year now and am consistently satisfied.

Overall, I think that this is an excellent product with lots of uses -- see a couple of caveats below. I've purchased and used 8 - 10 bottles over the past 2 years or so. Mostly, I apply it all over my face and neck after shaving in the morning and am pleased with the slightly tightening and softening effect from the aloe on my 45+ year old skin. I also use it, occasionally, as a hair gel -- it provides SOME body/hold for my short hair, but it is not a substitute for the holding power of normal hair gel. Also, I've found this effective in minimizing itches from minor irritations like mosquito bites. Of course, it's fantastic for sunburn. The caveats: (1) when applying it to the body (arms, legs, hands, etc.), it can have a little bit of a sticky feel; not a big deal for me, but one of my daughters dislikes it for this reason, and (2) others have commented about "burning" their skin. One of the bottles I've used had a slightly irritating (kind of burning feel) effect on my skin that none of the bottles before or since has had. I can only speculate that, since the product had not reached its expiration date, perhaps Lily of the Desert's quality control slipped up on this one and, maybe, the pH of that particular product was a little off -- I can't say for sure. But, this experience does make me wonder if consumers whose natural pH is slightly different than mine might regularly have problems(?). The only way to know for sure is to try it yourself, but most reviewers seem to have had very good experiences with the aloe, as I have. Bottom line: if you know that you have sensitive skin, then this might not be the product for you. Otherwise, I highly recommend it for many different uses.

Make an excellent hair gel

This is an excellent product. Not only for me but also for my pets. Stops skin irritation and prevents scratching.

Best aloe with few ingredients. I use it to moisturize my hair, in lotion, in natural bug repellent, on sunburns, as a mild hair gel. Love this stuff.

me encanta el gel de aloe vera de lily of desert y lo usamos desde hace muchos años tanto para la hidratación de la piel como para el cabello como gel fijador. en la piel se absorbe muy bien y no se queda pegajoso a diferencia de otros geles de aloe vera que llevan aromas , colorantes y alcohol.

El producto es muy bueno, pero la entrega no, pedí dos geles, dice la descripción del artículo de 12 OZ cada uno y me llegaron dos de 4 OZ cada uno, ni siquiera se acompleta uno de la cantidad que indica la descripción.
