I didn’t realize how many basic features are paywalled behind the insights subscription. E.g. telling you how long your kid slept. Without the subscription it becomes a very basic yet expensive baby monitor.

Does not notify you on sound detection even though everything needed is enabled on the app. Contacted the nanit support team but they have not been able to fix the issue. Waste of money.

Not worth the price, glitches every time

I received the Nanit Baby Monitor as a gift from my registry, and I have to say, I was truly excited to try it out. However, what I ended up with feels like the worst and most overpriced monitor among all my friends. If you're considering splurging on this monitor, I urge you to read my experience first. For starters, let’s talk about the so-called “premium features” that Nanit touts. They sell you on a subscription model that promises extra insights and capabilities, but the truth is, unless you fork over that cash, you’re left with a very basic, static camera. Unlike other baby monitors on the market, which often come with zoom and pan options, this one doesn’t budge an inch—you get nothing but a fixed view. I can’t believe that I’m comparing this to far cheaper Chinese counterparts that can zoom and provide video playback without additional fees. To make matters worse, after just a few months of use, I couldn’t even access the insights! Iike what??? I can’t even check any video clips, and forget about capturing those precious memories. It feels like I’m stuck with a super expensive webcam without a record video option instead of a reliable baby monitor. Aside the problems that you have to reboot and the fact that it gives delayed notifications (one of the only things it does, but it doesn't do it on time but with deplay). This Nanit Baby Monitor has been nothing but a source of frustration. I expected a top-tier product, but what I got was a glorified camera with mandatory subscription fees for features that should come standard. Save your money and go with a more reliable option!

If for any reason you have not activated the back ground sounds, you will never know of you child crying in the bedroom. This has happened many time as it is easy to forget to switch this on. And it keeps me anxious as I end up checking many times if I switch it on or not, even when I did it! More over, it drains the phone battery very quickly

You should know that this camera doesn’t have very basic features you would expect from any baby monitor, like video recording using SD cards. They force you to purchase annual subscriptions at ridiculous prices ($175 per year) for a basic cloud recording feature which I have paid for, and would honestly say that the cloud playback feature is worse than the $50 baby monitors that I have tried. None of the additional features are useful besides the background audio which has been quite smooth, but many other cameras have this feature too.

After much deliberation, thought and reviews we decided to purchase the Nanit pro camera for our baby's room and I am so glad we did. We've been using this baby monitoring system for several months now and it is definitely worth the money for several reasons which I will explain below: Firstly, I love that the app is directly on your phone so you don't need to carry around a seperate monitor. Secondly, the camera is as good as described. I love that you can zoom in using your two fingers on the screen to ensure your baby is breathing. Note: it comes with the breathing band which we did use for the first three months but now that our baby has outgrown it I haven't purchased the bigger band but you could if you feel inclined too. Also, the image is very clear. I love that I can see my baby on the screen very clearly and it's not pixelated. Thirdly, I appreciate that the app sends you notifications not only when baby is crying but also when there is movement within the crib, when baby has been attended too and taken out of the crib. I also love that it records how long baby has been napping or sleeping for. Fourthly, you can choose your optimal temperature and humidity level for the room and if the temperature or humidity goes out of range, you will get notified. Additionally, you can speak to your baby through your phone by pressing and holding down the mic button on the app. I use this option if my baby has woken up from their nap to assist with helping them get back to sleep and/ or to offer comfort. Lastly, the camera also includes 4 nature sounds that are built within the camera which you control via the app. The sounds can be played to offer comfort to your baby as they sleep, similarly to a noise machine. The four sounds include, white noise, birds, ocean and wind. I use the white noise for our baby and I find it works well. You can set a timer as well if you'd like. Cons: 1.) The camera picks up noise from outside of the room. For example, our laundry room is outside of our baby's room and I can hear the washer or dryer when it is turned on. 2.) For the cost of the camera, I wish there was the option to choose between the stand or wall option as the wall option does tear paint off the wall when being removed (even if you use a hair dryer). Overall, I highly recommend this product even with the high price point. I believe the pros outweigh the cons and if you want to take comfort knowing your baby's monitor is accurately depicting when they sleep and wake up, this is the camera for you, your baby and your family.

This item is workable with a subscription, but is really very slow. Eg if my kid fall down and start crying, and I want to see why from the history, I will need to wait 3-5 mins for the video history to be uploaded to server and made available to me from my mobile app. Once the subscription is over this is entirely useless. The real time video hardly can be view via mobile network. (I have 10gbps internet link at home and 5g mobile network). It always shows connection error when you need it to work. Totally unreliable.
