The Paleo Primer: A Jump-Start Guide to Losing Body Fat and Living Primally

OMG!!! This is the book I've been waiting for!
I will try to keep this brief but it will be rough. Bless these young people for a great contribution to the plethora of Paleo books and recipes that are already available. This one is a little different though. It truly is a Paleo Primer. The book is concise and well written. The pictures are colorful and the book is fun. There are even fake coffee rings on some of the pages that make it look well used. It is full of real world advice without the hard science. I have read all the science I need to read on the subject thanks to Loren Cordain, Mark Sisson and Robb Wolf; who, as far as I am concerned, gave me all the reasons to adopt this lifestyle in the first place; robust health, longer life and great vital energy. So why did I add this book to the Paleo library? The food!!!! These recipes are unbelievable. Matt created these recipes and they are fabulous. I just made Coconut Comfort Curry for dinner and if you like curry and coconut together this will be a big favorite. The other beautiful thing about the recipes is that they are all really simple and can be cooked in minutes. Oh Please try the Shepard's Pie. I was so sad when I ran out of it. I ate it for two days and I'm making it again. The Scotch Eggs are fun and really great! I could go on and on about the recipes forever. They are so different and delicious that I think they will be a part of my repertoire forever. The Paleo way of life is dynamic. My health has changed. My sugar cravings are gone. My allergies, which were a constant struggle for me are GONE! Who knew that giving up grain, dairy and sugar could create so much healing. I will be 59 in a few months and I feel like I have a new lease on life. Thank you Keris and Matt for writing this book, and Thank You Mark Sisson for publishing it for the U.S. I will patiently await the next one!!!

Preaching to the Choir
I purchased this book to give to my mother. I'm trying to convert her to a Paleo/Primal lifestyle. She has always been very health conscious but during menopause she gained a ton of weight and is now obese. She's never been particularly fat phobic and believed natural fats were healthy for kids so luckily I grew up eating pretty healthy although it did lean to the SAD idea of healthy minus processed food (thankfully). However, as her weight gain increased so did her fear of fat and her reliance on fat free and light products. She also is not on board with the latest findings on cholesterol so even though her cholesterol is actually normal she is scared and wants to get it even lower. At 60 years old this could be downright dangerous. Her idea of what are the real healthy fats is off too and is worried about "all that fat" esp animal fat on my lower carb version of Paleo. And of course the "hearthealthywholegrains" are an issue. So basically she needs a serious overhaul in her thinking.I gave this book three stars not because I don't like it but because I just don't think it will convince my Mother, or anyone in a similar boat, to throw off her heavily SAD influenced ideas about nutrition. It just doesn't have the depth that some of the other books like It Starts With Food, The Primal Blueprint, Practical Paleo, or The Paleo solution have. It's going to take a lot more than this book offers to convince the average Joe or Jane that grains are unhealthy but saturated animal fat is. It's preaching to the choir as I suspect most people who will buy this book won't need to be convinced or taught how to "do Paleo". We just need more cookbooks!!As a cookbook the recipes mostly look great, easy, and with accessible ingredients. So I don't think this book is useless. I just think it would be better used as backup once my Mom has read It Starts With Food and Practical Paleo. Then what is essentially a pocket Paleo guide may be of use.Until then I will work my way through the recipes starting with the yummy looking Bubble and Squeak!

Good Book
I was looking for good recipes for my new way of eating to stay healthy. This book is short and to the point. The authors are very easy to understand. I am excited to start using the recipes in the book. I would recommend it to anyone looking to better their health. It is also quick to read and easily understood about the Paleo way of eating. I have been searching for a couple of years to try and get my eating right and I feel like this is the last puzzle piece I need and am very happy with the content.

Very Nice!
Hey, I purchased 3 books total and I love this book. I kept one and gave other 2 as gifts. I am a diabetic and on Paleo diet so I purchase many Paleo cookbooks. I love this book b/c it contains unusual recipes with many UK recipes. Plenty Indian inspired recipes b/c of the Indian cultured influences in the UK. I love indian foods.Never heard of Chestnut flour for baking but I will have to see if amazon carries it. This is a real Paleo cookbook.

Short and concise information, easy to understand.
The first part of the book is filled with alot of basic information about the basic paleo principles. I have read other, more indepth books but this was was a great review and hit on all the important basics. I haven't tried any of the recipes yet but have marked several that I am anxious to try out.

Great recipes and clear explanation of the Paleo lifestyle and benefits!
I've dabbled in paleo and have been looking for recipes that are not too complicated due to my busy schedule and limited cooking skills. I think this is just what I was looking for! I highlighted over 2/3 of the recipes to try and make. The hard part will be picking which one to start with. Highly recommend as the authors did a great job explaining Paleo. They also did a great job with creating some great, easy to follow recipes. Thanks!

Gifted to my mom for Christmas
With four kids that eat Paleo due to (newly-diagnosed) wheat, dairy and corn allergies, my mom had no idea how to cook for us or where to take us to eat when we all came home for the holidays. This book straightforwardly describes the Paleo diet and how/why it works, as well as provides easy and delicious recipes. A great introduction and reference that she can consult without needing to search all over the internet.

Excellent Source of Information
A very interesting read. I prefer to read non-fiction books and used this book to satisfy my curiosity and interest in the paleo diet and what it entails. I believe it gives some excellent information and would really help anyone new to and starting out on the diet, which seems to me to be one of the most natural and fitting diets for humans (as opposed to say vegan, which I find unnatural in my opinion). I've not used any of the recipes as I've not started the diet but have considered it, but even without going full paleo I think it provides some excellent nutritional information and the recipes would be lovely to try, which I will one day soon.

Brilliant straight forward recipes!
Great cook book and easy yummy recipes. I have made most of the recipes and they have turned out deliciously! I'd recommend the paleo lifestyle to everyone whether your looking to loose weight or not. I've lost 3 stone with eating 70-80% Paleo over the last year and a half combined with the 5-2 over the last 6 months. If you haven't tried this way of eating before, I'd recommend a doing a whole 30. You'll be amazed just how chemicals in food can really mess with your body and emotions. Great addition to my collection!

Both these books are well suited to UK consumers and contain easy and affordable recipes
Prior to buying the @Paleo Primer' and the 'Paleo Primer - A Second Helping', my paleo books were mainly American. Both these books are well suited to UK consumers and contain easy and affordable recipes. Would highly recommend both books.

love it
I'm not strictly on paleo but using the ideas in this book - ie if its out of a box don't eat it. Really looking at carbs in a whole new light - eat very little of them now - really cut down on the amount I eat too which other 'diets' don't address but this one eliminates cravings for carbs and so your plate naturally gets less and less on it. Really boosted my sex drive too!
